  5. I quite like it ....but...there is one thing I do not like about it, and it is the same for all the other versions too... Why don;t they make an inner body to tidy up the area between the shell and the chassis? Wouldn't be hard...and it would hide all the bits inside to make it look nicer as well as keeping all the muck and rubbish out. 4 fake wheelarches and an apron to connect them. There are huge holes and it spoils the look for me.

  7. your gonna be limited on the tl01 pal, pinion options are present on the chassi, but i wouldnt go stupid on with a 5.5 turn or like. defo bearings, shocks, drive train is ok but dog bones are gonna suffer so will need cvds or upgraded all metal ones.

  14. If you can hold one wheel and turn the other on the back end; it won't be the internal planetary gears inside the rear diff that are broken. And if you're getting no problems on the front then I'd doubt it would be the gearbox I'm almost 100% sure that it's either the rear pinion gear or the ring gear on the outside of the rear diff. EDIT: ahh, sounds like one of the bearings has exploaded then. Here's the exploaded (excuse the pun) diagram: http://traxxas.com/s...ar_091222_0.pdf

  15. Brill vids Scott. What a great idea strapping your mobile phone to the front of your car. I like how you can hear you and jabba trying to find your phone in the deep snow. Better than the keyfob cam.

  18. until i see it running i'll stick to thinking thats nothing but a show peice. ever blocked a nitro's exhaust? well it makes it shut down. you stick a turbo on there it'll do the same thing. its a nice thought, and assuming it works then its an amazing peice of engineering. but its mounted to the wrong engine. stick it on a plane 4 stroke and show me it running then i'll be impressed.

  21. you can fit the hump pack and rx in there, i managed to fit mine in, took awhile of trial and error and then a heavy cramming sesion with the wires but it does fit. as for charging without taking battery out, heat isn't a problem, i charge batteries in the boxes, tx or car all the time. you will just need to replace the switch with a 3 lead version, one lead to go to battery, one for the rx and then a 3rd that hangs in a easy access location which you plug in to the charger, only works if switch is in the off postion for charging tohugh. see here http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ansmann-racing-switch-with-charge-lead-bec/rc-car-products/37972

  26. Ok, here's my home-made effort (the Mk. 2 version!) ... And like others, the basis of this is a cheap stainless flask and a 55w H4 car head-light bulb. The advantage of using the flask for the body is that its double skin means it will always be cool to the touch. Also, as mentioned above, use a dip/main beam bulb and wire it so that both the dip and main beam filaments come on at the same time, hence more wattage and more heat. Also, Halfords sell a connector that fits directly onto the H4 bulbs, so you don't have to use crimped spade connectors if you don't want to. And this is what I did ... Take your cheap, pound shop flask .... Remove the lid and the plastic spout ... The top (spout) end will be the bit that holds the bulb. Drill holes around the two edges of the spout (red dots in the picture below). These serve as both airvents to channel the heat down (if you decide to fit a fan like I did) and as clamping points for the springs I use to hold the bulb on. Next, chop it roughly in half using a hack saw, dremel, angle grinder, sword etc ... If you want to fit a fan (recommended), now cut an appropriately sized, round hole in the base, and a hole in the side for the cable to come out of ... That's the hard bit done. Now mount your bulb in the spout part, held in place using two old exhaust springs, hooked into the holes you drilled earlier. Mount your fan in the base using glue, silicone, or gaffa tape. Wire up the bulb and feed the wires through the hole in the base, then (as the flask has a slight taper) slide the base over the bulb. It should form a neat jam fit so that you can easily slide it open again if you want to change the bulb (I keep a spare in the tool box). I used some two-core mains cable, an in-line light switch, and some large crock-clips to attach it to my 12v battery. The fan is a cheap Maplin's job (this one I think: http://www.maplin.co...10mm-fan-105028) which is simply wired in parallel to the bulb and hence comes on at the same time. Just make sure you wire it so that it blows and not sucks! These can draw some serious current so I wouldn't run it off your starter box battery.

  29. Race engines run higher temperatures due to the Compression When ever you compress something, the temperature will always increase as well As long as there is smoke - there is poke - it's fine Ziggy
    1 point
  30. One thing that must be said - NEVER tune to temperature Always tune by sound and smoke output and power the temp gun is a guide to how the engine is running and to how the tune is as for when to take it - Run the engine let it get hot first After its been running just flash the Sensor over the glowplug ish area and see what you've got 200F if its been idling for a long time 250f MAX if you've just been ragging it super hard for like the past 5mins 220 - 230 is the ideal temperature range ziggy

  34. If you want a tough basher then get the slash....you won't regret it. IMHO truggies are not as much fun to drive and break too easily. Just be prepared to go through a zillion body shells. They last 5 mins on SC trucks. Btw - not sure if someone else has already mentioned this.... But if you don't like traxxas connectors (which are fine btw!) just buy a convertor or even better make your own. If you are serious about the hobby you are going to need a soldering iron soon anyway! Buy turnigy batteries too off hobbyking or eBay if you need em faster. Much cheaper that way.
