First bash of the year went ok.. Have had some issues with my tourex clutch not engaging fully, think i've probably built it wrong so i've had to go back to stock, so i'm running a stock clutch w/ 6k spring and a stock 26cc engine, baja is lacking bottom end punch to say the least. Shocks are playing up and needing a good rebuild, so that's my next priority.

Only major breakage other than the above was my FLM adjustable shock tower rockers, managed to snap one and other is bent, so i have replaced the FLM part with an SS brace for the meantime.

Crimdon was a dust bowl, no mud in sight, absolutely awesome. Blow down with the compressor and all clean! :D

That's it now for the next 7 weeks to give me a chance to get everything perfect for the bashfest. Bring it on. :good:

Less than a week to the bashfest and i've got gearbox issues!

Gear box has been pulled out, diff internals are stripped and soaking atm, gearbox has all bearings binned and old grease cleaned out.

Everything keeps going wrong, having second thoughts about even travelling the 300 miles to the bash :nono:

It's looking better... I guess?

Diff is all cleaned ready for new bearings and oil etc, just need to wait for it to turn up, as well as replacement o ring for the diff screws, think all my oil leaked out so i guess it's a kinda good thing i noticed a bearing was caput?

Well, i took the baja down to the bashfest and ran it all day Sunday, didn't run much on Saturday due to a hang over and the Friday due to the weather. Ran around 3.5 tanks and all was well until i stripped out a hex and couldn't be bothered replacing the wheel. The only real damage throughout the weekend was a ball drive shaft, swiftly replaced by uBer and a spur gear, spur gear went as i landed on full throttle after doing a backflip.

Few photos of the weekend.

Done a little bit of maintenance to get ready for Crimdon this weekend, changed the broken wheel for one with a hex in one piece and also changed my closed clutch carrier  to an open one i managed to get at the Bash from Ian (MMR) at a brilliant price :D

Main reason for changing the carriers over is because i seem to get excessive clutch fade caused by heat, the clutch has actually went blue from the heat

So i've swapped the closed carrier for an open one, with a vertigo engine mount, kindly donated(?) by Terry.

I'm going to keep the closed carrier in the tool box incase i ever need it.

Had a day out a crimdon a couple weeks back, baja came back filthy, covered from tip to pipe in crimdonite.

Had a few issues on the day, mainly a dead steering servo, flooded air filter and loosing e clips, but i've been in touch with IRC Rob, and he's gonna sort me some nutted hinge pins, which will be good! A question for people currently using them, how easy is it to replace say an arm if you have nutted pins?

Anyway, a photo crimdon, as well as a wee video of the hilarity on the day.

And a photo after i'd given it the Muc off and shower treatment followed by a warm blow dry with mothers hair drier... , good job the parents are away, i've got the bathroom to clean now

Thinking about getting rid of the CPI (had it a few months now) and replacing it with another Dominator, i always go back to the dom....

What are your thoughts?

Side pipe is what you want , mind with your dangerous flying it would be bust in 5 mins so your prob best sticking to a Dom or keep the CPI

I spent a good few hours sorting shocks out today considering i'm heading to Bashfest in 16 days i thought i best to something

The other day i got (another) set of Innovative shocks through from Rob, needed to use my own springs and adjusters, give the baja a sorta fresh look. It's still looking kinda neglected but it's getting there.

I also have a new set of beadlocks (V3 silverbacks) as well as V2.1 monkey nutz to fit, i think these matched with the shocks will make it look almost good again, could still do with getting a shell but that's hardly a priority.

Oh i also replaced the bearings in my hostile hubs and shimmed my extenders, finally got no slop in them :D

I did re fit my own perched as they are the slotted ones.

I've accumulated quite a box of I-RC shock  parts over the years too. Shame most are not usable as they are older versions.

IMG_20130804_164030_zps5ec2afc2.jpg

I also found this lying under a table next to my bench grinder, no idea where it came from but think i might have to fit it for the Bashfest.

The dog is now ready for the bashfest...

I received a package last week containing a new version of Silverback beadlocks and Monkey nuts. I decided to counter sink all of the holes on the beadlocks - to keep things tidy (because as we all know my baja is a work of art).

I re soldered the kill switch as it wasn't working yesterday dispite hearing the relay click, and it now works. All good, few photos below.

Rhino screw replaced with one with a hex, a washer and threadlocked - it should now hold tight.

IRC hinge pins fitted to try and remove some slop from the back end

Uber RC front bumper bodged and fitted, it was a brace version until i took the grinder to it as it's not really needed with my 2x IRC chassis brace-age

Shimmed extenders, again to reduce slop, i've also replaced my pin braces with new IRC ones.

I think the diff might be leaking oil, not sure wether to investigate or just to get on with it lol..

Next update will likely be after the bashfest :)
