DrSlim
Hi All, Newbie here for some guidance if possible please. I'm building one of those crazy Cross RC XX 10 T-Rex 10 wheel jobbies and I'm a bit in the dark about what ESC/BEC/UBECs to use. I believe the system needs 10amps and it will be running dual brushless motors of around 1650kv each. Also two large scale 60kg servos and a normal servo for gear change. I think I'm right in saying that there are combined ESC/BEC units - are these recommended for my purpose? Disadvantages over split ESC and UBEC/BEC? I don't know the forum rules about this but are there any brands to err towards or away from? I can't go all in on this but I don't want to buy cheap stuff. If I were to look at Hobbywing gear what ESC/BEC/UBEC would you guys recommend? At least that gives me a reference of what to look for. Same with servos - what's a decent, reliable brand? Any recommendations or advice greatly appreciated, especially for gear available in Europe. If anyone's thinking "why on earth is he building that when he clearly doesn't know what he's doing" - you'd be right! But I'd still have the same lack of knowledge if it only had 4 wheels, so please forgive my ignorance. It's been a couple of decades since I last built an RC! Thanks everyone, Paul
Lone-wolf
does the kit come with a pair of very large Brushed motors and esc`s and maybe a ubec for the 10amp supply, i would just stick with brushed, but if you have not seen it on Youtube Tomley RC is building one of these and he went brushless maybe look at what he is using
DrSlim
I know what you mean but although it does come with cheap motors it doesn’t come with any of the other stuff. I figure if I’m going to buy all the stuff I might as well go brushless. I’d really appreciate an example of an esc that would be good for this application, for example a Hobbywing XYZ or what have you. Thanks for the response! DrSlim
I haven’t looked through the electrical parts yet but a bec is listed as required and a YT video appears to support that. It takes a fair amount of space and time to build but is very rewarding. The components are well made and it all goes together fairly easily. Just the electrics that are a concern for me but I’m sure I’ll get there. Thanks for the help all. Paul

I like the idea of a long build, i have been wanting to do 1 on something as i really quite enjoy being out in my workshop tinkering away with something
DrSlim
I bought it specifically to be a long term build but also to learn new things like hydraulics, etc. There’s a lot going on inside this beast but I’m taking my time and loving it!
