Hi from a newbie tackling a crazy custom 1/7 crawler build over the past year!

Recommended Posts

Hello to Each,

I have always been interested in RC models, and just over a year ago the opportunity arose to make my dream reality.  So I purchased my first crawler, FTX Outback2 Ranger, but before I even got to run it outdoors the crazy idea came to me, how hard can it be to build one from scratch!?

It all started with a set of Wraith axles, which were somewhat bigger than I had anticipated, as I had decided to build a 1/10 scale of my Land Rover Discovery 2, Well...... after working out the axles were not going to work for 1/10, I calculated that it was close enough to 1/7, and so the journey began.  I now have a 27" x 11" beast weighing in at around 9.5Kg, made mostly of aluminium, which all started with a balsa wood prototype.

If peeps are interested, I can cobble together some pics of the journey so far!!?
