  1. As you can see from the pic, I'm currently working on making the spotlights to go on the front 'A' frame, getting a flat piece of ali sheet to make a bowl is quite the task, not having a lathe sufficient enough to spin them, and after that will be attempting the headlight cluster. But I have found one saving grace, 1/10 scale spotlights will work for the fog lights.
  2. Transmission is 2 speed with front dig, the sliders are actually quite light weight for how they look, I have used weighted wheels to help with the cog.
  3. So far it has only run on the flat with a doorstep in the way, which wasn't an issue, terrified my brothers husky with it, but in true Land Rover style it corners like a big ocean going oil tanker.
  4. The story thus far, this was built essentially by eye, to the nearest 1/8" in most cases! The balsa wood body shell is the model for a later aluminium shell, basically the pattern, which is all done from photos. The obvious difference from the real thing is the ride height, but I wanted as much flex as possible, but it is more or less 1/7 scale.
  5. Hello to Each, I have always been interested in RC models, and just over a year ago the opportunity arose to make my dream reality. So I purchased my first crawler, FTX Outback2 Ranger, but before I even got to run it outdoors the crazy idea came to me, how hard can it be to build one from scratch!? It all started with a set of Wraith axles, which were somewhat bigger than I had anticipated, as I had decided to build a 1/10 scale of my Land Rover Discovery 2, Well...... after working out the axles were not going to work for 1/10, I calculated that it was close enough to 1/7, and so the journey began. I now have a 27" x 11" beast weighing in at around 9.5Kg, made mostly of aluminium, which all started with a balsa wood prototype. If peeps are interested, I can cobble together some pics of the journey so far!!?
