Kpowell911
Hello, first of all some background. Its pretty clear, that despite theyre very well documented (and sometimes deserved) flaws, Im a big fan of Traxxas. It may be a nostalgia thing, as I waas an owner of the original kit form Rustler, and I spent most of my teenage years (and money) modding a Traxxas Emaxx 3906….. Theyre now a huge huge multi million dollar RC company, who perhaps arent the most ethical, their products have gone from being slightly under rated/unknown/cheap to over rated and over priced, but they work for me. Ive owned, at least one of every electric surface model bar the UDR and the 1/16th….. soooo. Ive always wanted to try a 1/16th Traxxas. Always thought they were too expensive for what they are. Even used, they command good money. In fact, if you go to the very first page of this sub forum, youll find a post with me asking about them, over 10 years ago. However, its never happened… Deep down, I think I know the one to have was the Mini Revo, I lost a few on eBay over the past few years. A few weeks back, a Mini Slash came up on here, so I brought it…… and here it is….. Stock, with a VXL system. Its fast, and very fun, but it tumbles, and generally acts like a short course truck (cause it is). So, I know lets convert it to a Mini Revo, cant be that hard can it? So I found a parts list, and found the bits on Jennys RC (theres also the wing etc still to come). I also picked up some cheap metal shafts. I have similar on a Slash 4x4 and they seem ok? So thats everything bar a body, and some wheels and tyres. Which arent cheap. Hmmm Edited September 8, 2021 by Kpowell911
Popular Post Kpowell911
So I decided to look for some used Wheels/Tyres and bodyshells. Made sense right? Trying to save a bit of cash? No. I ended up finding a Summit 1/16th on Facebook a few miles from my Mrs house. It was in bits, in a shoe box, but I was assured it was all there, bar a shell, some screws, and a centre layshaft, which was on back order. It had radio/servo etc and was CHEAP, so I took a punt. It also has RPM Arms/Hubs/Bumper, which is nice. A shell was obtained from Jennys, I also bought a complete Centre Transmission and screw kit, just because its easier than trying to find a layshaft in stock. after an hour or soo How cool is that? However. Its not a Mini Revo.,… back to square one Edited September 8, 2021 by Kpowell911 5
Popular Post Kpowell911
I ordered some lipos…. and Continued to type in “Traxxas 1/16th” into eBay/Gumtree/Facebook….. Until one day, I managed to get some used wheels/tyres/bodyshell for a decent price…. It just happened to come with the rest of the truck…… I got a good price on this I think (similar to what I paid for the Slash in post One…..) it comes with: A Savox Servo Traxxas CVDs all round Traxxas Tubez Pushrods Traxxas Tubez Steering Rods RPM Arms RPM Hubs RPM Front Bumper Only had a blast round my cul de sac, its amazing fun tbh 🙂 It was advertised as having a crunchy diff on hard take off, although Ive not been able to replicate it. Theres some play in the rear wheel, but think its a shim missing from the CVD, but Ill get to that later/at one point. So for now…… from None in 12 years, to 3 in Two Weeks 🙂 Edited September 8, 2021 by Kpowell911

I dont like the shell colour, Id have preferred a single colour one personally, but just kinda wanted it to be “complete”, and that was in stock. I also cannot stand coloured RPM plastic. It looks soooo cheap and toy like. But here we are….. Never really intended spending so much, as the Revo was the only one I wanted. However, the Summit retails for £279, so have decided to spend a bit more on it, as Ill probably make back whatever I spend, and the Revo has about £100 in upgrades i didnt know about. All three run, all are RTR with separate radios/batteries so if I had 2 friends we could all run together. The Summit shell has all the lights etc, so Ive just bought the front and rear bumpers (with leds), the led switch bank, which was $30. The black wheels are $37, but I dont really need them, Im going to try and paint the stock ones?? With what Ive saved from not buying tyres, Ive treated the Summit to the latest Brushed XL2.5 ESC. This has the pre wired harness for the light kit so itll all be factory. I couldve done it with the current ESC, but this is neater/newer. I dyed the chassis on my Slash black and it turned out ok.

Ross9999992
1/10 buggy rears (2.2”) are what you want for the merv. In particular https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/schumacher-mezzo-1-10-rear-silver-pr-1334748 this pattern of mini spikes is great for off road though usually very soft so no good for on road/skate park 👍🏻
Kpowell911
Itll spend most its time on road/skate park tbh, but do they sell them pre mounted? Can 1/10th Biggy REAR WHEELS be used all round @Ross9999992 Dunno what to do with the Slash, Its not really for me, but if I convert it, Ive got 2 Revos? Ross9999992
Yeah it’s the buggy rears all round 👍🏻 There are many options for premounts - these here from China, type 2374/2376 for £5 a pair or these guys from the uk. If you Google 1/10 buggy rear you will find many including a plethora of on road options 👍🏻 The slash - yeah tbh the merv is like one of my most favourite rc’s ever. With full rpm arms/knuckles they are practically unbreakable (given sensible usage). Because of that I often consider the slash but then always end up thinking “but the merv will just be better” and don’t bother 😂 Edited September 15, 2021 by Ross9999992

Kpowell911
So, I'm only 'home' (where my parcels go) Once a week now, so I get to come home to goodies 🙂 First, lets look at the Summit It started like this, I'll probably never use this, but I wanted the lights on the shell to work. I wanted it to be factory and proper. It cost more than I should be spending, but I wanted it to all work: So thanks to Jenny's for: A Proper XL2.5 ESC With the light harness Traxxas Power block to plug all the lights into New Front and Rear bumpers with lights and wiring The shell already had the wiring Didnt take long Eventually All running completely RTR. Just needs the 2021 Black Wheels in my opinion, but we will see. I think its really cool 😄
Kpowell911
Now on to the original reason for this thread. The Slash.... It handles badly, and just isnt as good as the Revo. So lets make it a Revo Thanks to @Alex97 an Jenny's RC again. Went overboard with spares but..... Ignore the metal shafts. They dont fit Slash OR Revo it appears I decided to do a corner at a time, as to be honest, I got a bit mixed up with the arms haha so. The biggest issue with the Slash, it topples over easily..... so width will help This shows the extra width achieved by converting to a Revo As you can see, plenty of new parts With the front completed, you can see how much different it is to the rear Rear done And then there was two......
Ross9999992
Is the summit the same width as the revos? Swap all that rpm over if so imo…the revos actually go fast enough to break arms/knuckles 👍🏻
Kpowell911
I did comsider it, Summit arms swing back more I believe increasing wheelbase. I dont like coloured RPM, Ill probably just buy Black RPM stuff at some point for the Revo’s
