Newbie looking to get back into RC during this crazy time - Tamiya Lunchbox steering woes

Hello All and thank you in advance for any tips and apologies this is such a basic question.

Quick history, in the early 90s I built 2 RC kits with my dad - Lunchbox and Grasshopper. I decided to pick up the hobby again during the pandemic and must say I cannot wait to continue building more.

Just a quick question that has been driving me mad for a few weeks. I cannot get my steering aligned at all. I have followed Tamiya's instruction, watched YouTube videos and went so far as to buy aftermarket shafts, but still the issue persists.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!1693065971_ScreenShot2020-08-21at4_38_25PM.thumb.png.aabb102873fbd7c3d87def0ce61318ae.png943144164_ScreenShot2020-08-21at4_37_06PM.thumb.png.3e7d8717f5d7d95d758f446b1580f3ce.png

have you tried switching the turnbuckles around?

going by the pic it looks like the long one should be on the other side and short one on the other, just an idea and welcome to the forum  :)

edit: the servo saver doesn't look centred as well.

Hi and welcome.

I think you’ve got the turnbuckles on the correct sides but the axle on the right is the wrong way round, try flipping that over. As it is you’re not going to get the wheel on.

oh good spot i completly missed that  :)

Just tried it and it worked! Thanks again

awesome if you need to fine tune the steering just use the steering rods that are threaded and when close enough trim on the transmitter :)
