Yes I have noticed that too, however I did bought the HSP 4001 from Bangood among a couple other things.

The more I inspect the picture there are some noticeable differences. the general shape is different and there is a bent for the front.

that's the one off the drift car, not the buggy

one my my mates got the aluminium chassis from china and it went straight in to his HSP buggy, and his centre shaft is the same length as the maverick version so I am guessing the drift car has a shorter centre shaft then? Only guessing though.

I see, not extremely clear and coming from China is always a bit of a guess at time. Definitely glad to be on this forum for all the pointers given. I have had a look at AliExpress stock, and followed your advice on previous post.

Given these are my first proper upgrade on the car that I owned for years I am still fine for budget despite a couple errors like this. Need to learn somewhere

Still waiting for the correct chassis from China I had a play with the front shell post that keep breaking. It is at least my second one splitting right at it's base.. As there is no metal upgrade (or at least couldn't find one) I thought to give it a go using my work's machine shop. And the finish result isn't too bad at all

IMG20201116131538.thumb.jpg.e3c9499206f6fa560a3bdac7c8b2738e.jpg

Made in two parts, using a grub screw to hold the post to it's base

Finally received the correct chassis today from Aliexpress, I also had plan to upgrade a few more parts. Steering rack, wheels uprights front and rear suspension plate ( the one under the gearbox)

Started about lunch time...

and 6h later the car is back together ready for some more "bashing" this week end

As I was explained before, the chassis ins't a perfect fit, motor opposite side and a few more holes than stock chassis. I have cut the damaged front of my original chassis and used it as a spacer to keep everything at the same level. Aluminium chassis only being a strengthening plate here

Got a second hand short course strada today

I believe its a first generation Strada Evo SC model, and I think that they came out in 2015. It seems to have had very little use during the last 5 years though as it's all in tip top condition.

Along with the car I also got a couple of old Tamiya batteries (nimh & ni-cd) and they are really lacking in oomph. So the question I have for you guys is can you run these on a 2s lipo? The esc is a msc-22. I think it will be fine but just wanted to be sure.

Certainly looks like the same as the Brushed one I had. I think you have to move a jumper to use it with a Lipo, but yeah, it should work.

I have recently ugraded my strada XB  to a brushless motor/Esc kit and currently run it with 2S lipo. The msc-22 look to be at the end of it's life being discontinued by HPI.

I would upgrade all if I was you.

Thanks for your reply mate 👍

I did have a plan in mind of converting it to brushless but the more I think about it the more I want to leave it as it is. And as it happens I have another brushless RC on the way anyway... 😋

But yeah I know it's an old esc by todays standards, but I think im going to leave it all stock and ill order a tamiya to deans adapter and run it with one of my 2s lipos (the biggest one that'll fit). That way it should, in theory, remain in good condition 🤞 and it will be the extra RC that I take with me for my friends to use, instead of one of my faster/more expensive ones.

you could do with some of my polycarb shock towers on there instead of the metal ones I think.

I probably won't be upgrading any parts, at least not for now, but go on then let's see what yours look like.

Just picked up a brushless strada evo s SC earlier today, I think it was a bit of a steal for £75 with a decent charger and has apparently only been used twice.

I'm a completed newbe so I apologise in advance for the questions.

Are the body shells interchangeable?  I prefer the look of the of the XT truggy, i know the xt is much wider but assume thats in the wishbones?

I've plenty of hate for these saying they break easily so are there any recommended spares or upgrades i should get in my tool bag?

lastly, when I go from forward to reverse (or vise versa) it makes a bit of a clunk, is that normal or is something loose ?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the group 👍

When it comes to be body shell, it has to do with chassis length to start with. You will have difficulty fitting a short wheel base onto a long one and vice versa...

So check the compatibility of the SC with the XT. If possible you will have to think of body post if different.

I have recently change the body of my buggy Strada XB Evo on the the Strada RX (rally car mode). I had a body post, front bumper and wheels to  change for a straight fit.

A good spare to have would be the front tower. I have bent a few of those already. Check your shocks (plenty videos on YouTube on how to refill them etc..)

After it will depend how you use the car, it will depend which upgrade or spare you would need.

After for your clunk.... Something look to be loose. Check the mesh between pinion and motor. The other thing coming to my mind is possible cogging.

When there is too much resistance for the motor to turn normally. It can come from the pinion size not being correct or wheel not turning freely when motor is off, in other term the wheel are fastened too tight (I had that one)

Good luck

More questions!

Would this be a decent spare battery?

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-stick-pack-sub-c-5000mah-7-2v-nimh-high-power-series.html?queryID=12fe48ca31fc7bebadcaf56a52a1652a&objectID=41336&indexName=hbk_live_magento_en_us_products

The connectors are different but it shouldn't be beyond my skill set to change them

You said you bought a brushless car isn't it?!

In that case you better go toward a lipo 2S rather than a NiMH.

In this troubled time better look for a UK  vendor rather than Europe or China I would say.

Some lipo (Dean connector I believe you have) 3500mah 30C could be a starter for you. You would also need a balanced charger and a fire proof bag as they can be dangerous.

I would rather stick to nimh for now as I have the charger and it fast enough for me. Possible to fast, I’ve owned it for about 24 hours and have broken...

two wheels

the chassis

Bent the front suspension member

and

The shell is now mostly tape
😂

more power isn’t what I need!

Wow where did you run it to have so much damage done? 🙄

Not really familiar with brushless run on NiMH but what I could read is avoid running the batteries with the Tamiya connector (the white square one) change it to a Dean (red).

The thing with the lipo is not necessarily faster. The mah is for how long you will run for basically and the 30C for example is the initial discharge from a stop. You will have a lot longer runtime with a lipo. And you can tweak the ESC to run it as you wish.

Anyway take your time to rebuild it as it appears you need quite a few spare parts..

just a local carpark. A half speed jump over a speed bump resulted in two wheels sheering off!

Ive not had any full on smashes.

Car is currently running on these connectors

https://www.modelsport.co.uk/maverick-high-power-connector-1-pair-all-strada-evo-s-/rc-car-products/365412

I'm not wondering if I should use the battery, motor and speed sensor and put them into something else as parts don't appear to be avalible

Never seen that connector before...

Yeah massive shortage on maverick parts. And others to be honest...

Do you think thats because of everyone buying rc car during lockdown?

I run a bicycle shop and so much is out of stock

Yeah possibly but I believe the supply chain have been affected since march for a lot of various items. Either transport or workforce in factories are the cause of it.

Hopefully all better in the new year. Wheelspin have quite a bit of maverick parts in shadow stock which mean it will come within a couple weeks. I know not next day delivery but still faster than end of Jan for some stock
