  1. New shell and a few more upgrades. this thing is running so well now,
  2. I brought another rustler! this one is for my boys to use. Stripped and ready for cleaning and servicing
  3. I had a senton with the newer seals and they still leaked. I removed the spacer tube between two seats and replaced it with 4 more o-rings and that helped but the still leaked a bit
  4. That’s a bit to easy! I ended up just making a battery cover to hold it all in snug
  5. Latest upgrade was some GTR shocks as I kept bending the rear ultra shocks. they have the blue firm springs fitted which I thought were going to be to stiff but after a carpark run tonight including some head high jumps and a few stair drops it’s been awesome, handling is so much better, before if would roll over when turning at speed if you weren’t being careful. Now I could roll it if I tried! next up I want to get a new body shell, love the look of the proline bulldog but as far as I can see they are obsolete now so I’ll probably just get a clear rustler body and paint it
  6. Slipper clutch...... so it turns out I made a boo boo, when I first got the car I went over it and made sure everything was tight, including the slipper clutch. ive backed it off 3/4 of a turn and it no longer wheelies which I prefer. update on the six packs, still good, I’ve ran them on tarmac, gravel grass and sandy woodland and they performed well in all situations 😎
  7. I found some hidden BMX trails 5 mins from my house which is a double win as I can ride both my bike and play with the car there, on that note I’m looking forward to taking the rustler with me on mtb trips and it conveniently just fits in my backpack!
  8. The charger the car came with was a imax copy, it was getting really hot and I didn’t want to risk anything so I go myself this skyrc one and it’s loads better, being able to charge two batteries at once is a bonus
  9. So I thought I would do a little thread about my traxxas rustler, mostly for my own entertainment but others might be asking the same questions I have been so it could help. I brought a used rustler VXL from eBay in January, it came with a bunch of lipo batteries and a charger. the previous owner had fitted a few rpm parts including rear arms and hubs but it was otherwise stock. On my first run out with the car it was a bit of a handful, it was wheeling and spinning out everywhere. the carpark was a bit icy but after some research I learned the car had TSM Taxxas stability management and the little dial on the transmitter was set to zero, once set to 50-100% it was so much easier to handle. Because I tend to go out in the evenings I’m limited to a couple carparks. one is well lit but the only feature is a few speed bumps. the other is rough with pot holes, puddles and gravel, the best bit is a steep 5 ft bank you can jump and lots of scrap wood to make ramps out of. this is pretty hard on the cars and my previous model, a maverick strada would last about 15 mins before something would break. my next purchase was some new wheels/tyres for the rear. after a bit of research I went for a set of duratrax six pack and I’ve been really happy with them.
  10. Fitted a set of gtr shocks to my rustler. springs are probably a bit stiff but I’m off to the woods to give them a test tomorrow
  11. Well the lego was a rubbish idea so now looking at Velcro battery trays
  12. I got a ftx comet for my son and I to play with at Christmas and although it was good and nothing has broken on it, I was a bit limited to where we could use it as it didn’t have the power on grass. I have now upgraded to a brushless rustler and my son is quite capable of driving that, might be best to get something like the rustler and turn down the speed
  13. A set of GTRs came up on eBay so I’ve grabbed those. they come with blue rated springs which I believe are fairly firm so I may be getting a second set. thanks for you advice
  14. My next door neighbor buys up all the discounted lego and has paid people in the local supermarkets and toy shops. Then sells it when the price is high. Nothing to stop him but personally I would leave them for others to get a deal
  15. How did I miss this! just brought a brushed rustler for my son but this looks way cooler
  16. I’m after advice again! so, I keep bending the rear shocks on my rustler and want something a bit tougher. I almost purchased some traxxas big notes but the reviews didn’t look great the gtr seem to be sold out and a bit expensive. im thinking about alloy caps and ti shafts but wondered if there is anything better?
  17. wheel arrived today and they are the correct ones so thanks for your help. incase anyone else happens upon this thread the following wheels are correct for the rear of a 2wd rustler and so far they are very good. megs grip on wet grass and decent on tarmac DTXC3560 Sixpack ST 2.8 Truck 2WD Mounted Rear C2 Black (2)
  18. I have a few soft pack lipo batteries, they don’t fit my battery tray so I have cut some foam to hold it in place but I was wondering if I could get a case to fit them into as my hard case batteries fit perfectly. if not would a case made of LEGO madness?
  19. Thank you! For some reason I cant view the duratrax website on either my phone or mac so I can't see the link
  20. I was only planning on changing the rears. Sorry i'm leaving out all the vital information
  21. Yeah the car was fine but the bench is a wreck. Been looking to see if RPM make bench parts, sadly nothing yet
  22. Hit some pretty big jumps with my rustler, then hit a metal bench at full speed and have just fitted a new arm to it
