Team Associated DR6.1 Street Eliminator

I’ll be building this to the basic “No Prep” rules

For the R/C No Prep, there’s only a few very basic rules:

2wd Short Course Truck based (12-13” wheelbase).

Rubber Tires.

Body must cover the tires.

Must have all four Shocks.

2S Lipo (8.44v max).

No steering assist (no gyros).

The build will be based on this B6.1 I picked up off Oople

A SC6.1 chassis will be added to extended the wheelbase and also SC6.1 body mounts.....

723-B70-C9-537-B-4179-BEAC-6-EFC722-E219

Theses are the wheels and tyres I’ll be running

First job is to strip the buggy and see whats what 😂

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with your build.

Where did you get the tyres from by the way?

Bodged it all together

The rear SC shock tower is too tall for the buggy shocks, so it’s either get the Jconcepts drag tower that is the same width but shorter, or go up to a 31mm shock body and shaft....

Im happy with the basic build, so the next job is to strip it all down completely and rebuild it with the new spares I’ve got, check the gearbox and go up to 200k in the diff, up the oil in the shocks and limit some of the travel 👍

@.AJ. that shock tower would be a doddle to make using some simple tools and carbon fibre plate (most likely 5mm thick). 😉

I make lot's of carbon fibre parts for my RC's and although it takes time it's very satisfying as well as more unique then just buying off the shelf stuff.

Checked over the gearbox and everything is good, bearings oil, changed the diff oil to 200k, I’ve also fitted new rear hubs, I want to swap the arms as there’s a little too much play for my liking, I do have a set of B64 arms in the spares, but they lengthen the wheelbase, so they probably wouldn’t work with the JC Eliminator bodies... I did try different suspension blocks in the arm braces but they made little difference either

Fitted new front arms and purchased a set of Exotek Ti axles, the stock alloy ones looked very so slightly bent to me, I also bought a new set of bumpers to tidy up the front end

Ive started to mess around with the shocks, I’ve gone 50w in the front and 70w in the rear,  I need to order a selection of nylon m3 spacers to use as limiters tho

So when I spoke to wheelie bar guy, he said that there was a massive waiting list for the carbon version and the G10 one was “instock” and ready to ship, it was nearly week ago since I ordered it and I haven’t had a shipping notice, so I sent him a polite email and now he then says he can’t ship till the end of next week because he has no centre posts? To say I’m a bit annoyed is an understatement

Not going to keep banging on about making your own stuff I promise 😂 , ...but why don't you just make your own limiters?

I just use some silicone hose to make mine and I can then cut them to custom lengths for my speed runner RC shock shafts.

You can usually find this sort of pipe in various sizes but as an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3mm-Silicone-Vacuum-Hose-Pipe-Tube-Water-Air-Coolant-Dump-Valve-Turbo-Boost-Line/391514668063?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5b2817bc1f:m:m712R1Wq61ybMzY9C_nlS8g&enc=AQAEAAACYIQvEcHUrT7nmUC3yY5qbPyaBN1nJEDYW8MyypsJPgXKcMTUiP84T5kv%2FuCsjbxUmxkKgEt2uQ0roPD4PW%2FahjxMu4qSXyZqykOAR%2B3AiiH38pUZ8uxn%2Fl8rhpmJnA0SqzZGpNtE5B95LVRwPO5SAVxD9oiYjLfFEJUjbPModKLoSe83jqV6grr0kc%2BZXwpuYwulbsZDWHIbCudpg38oGr%2B9zB0ek5JWQjKFV7P2uV4LE9Ym6UEspyAWA4zek3DioyLfq50Co7CMMvhRLqeOKGOu%2FJd%2FGRCzUCDOlPMUJ1muOAbQnBpFI3rBDd9lkZoeMbLICbvy3ArnrnA8%2B%2FFjEadH93OFfgSFbCGJ9ElmnY47FvcZVc8r8KkLq6LZRx2OhnDtm8ot2rBwvdwURjK0Uivq8LQkEV3pCYGSw25fVIR%2B7%2BIJ1Q8MQwJmCfcypahOxTr5X0v9YpQ7MimhzfgcsXm9Mj40YH%2FcEmj8w%2FE2R6oPYEdi0mpNkIYWnKnWjF0cUM%2FwhmbVD5IPhhjnfpjdDoohXY7J6nTB0YxjClJL4F3iXHeUBpE1XvzBGip2eYymeyt0cBjWMXoE57Ybk4Qow85Zb2C92VAq5v8Y4ZRHXFekyWBqphY7Tj5DnSGctPwZsGy832YJ575ymqf88%2Fa3IuTdVOQKon08M6wISfag4YNHJCl7z2b2gAGPua%2BFf60Yux3tyj28Bgok732LndKoWdGveDPKBK17C%2BmtyyCaWf6nxJeDfVcL3s1OIiGIQP%2B56bvvSN1GJoXW8DUrWotFKiCqRWzUsPWnMLyhbqDW9xkL&checksum=391514668063e54b243af2824ebd99c058677ff92068

Silicone isn’t really hard enough, I’ve got silicone like that here left over from when I fitted a boost gauge in my 1/1 👍

Shore hardness varies as with most materials like that.

The stuff I use is definitely firm enough and tbh, imho it's better to use a material with some slight give in it so that when the shock does hit the limiter it's not such an abrupt stop.

Found this motor on DMS, I know it’s a older one, I ran the V2 version in a 2wd buggy 5 years ago lol, but for £30 I reckon it’s worth a punt

I'd be tempted to get one, don't have anything to put it in but at that price it can go into the parts box just incase something needs a motor.

They are very punchy motors. I had the 8.5t in my buggy and it was able to keep up with lower turn motors.
