Yoshimoto
Not completely stock but some proper wheels and tyres would get it on a level with the older one.The stock boots are of course showing their weaknesses against the Patagonia's and I'm pretty sure they won't get too close to the wider RC4WD in terms of performance even with some custom inserts.Right now the new one is about on its limit for weight with the kit tyres,it needs approx 20g more front and rear but as is,the tyres will start to fold rather than hold with any extra weight added. So far I've managed to collect some dual stage memory foam and three or four sheets of packing foam in various densities to try and make some workable inserts [emoji851]Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
RCbutcher
Great build mate. I orderd my youngest daughter one last night for Xmas her older sisters have the 1ten's but starting small do you think these would be good fun with lego courses? The kids have a mountain of that and big play boards to build on. I'll be interested to moddong its alittle which few things make the biggest improvements. Possibly one of those turbo Escs? Yoshimoto
I bet the lego would be brilliant, they will love it.Weight in the wheels and around the axle's will get them working a good bit better out of the box, then the servo as it's close to its limits with no extra weight added and next on the list has got to be tyres and wheels if your wanting a more serious performer. The stock ESC works fine but ties you to the stock transmitter too.Remember I built these to crawl predominantly on my own all rock course, thankfully they behave just like the tenth versions too.The turbo ESC's are a good little unit but it's not much of an upgrade over stock unless your looking for a cheap separate to use your own radio....its not got as smooth a start up and isn't as nice as the factory in use for delicate traction searching.Trail driving, mud blasting, bashing, average driving round I'm sure it would be fine....it's just not a specific crawler ESC.Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
Yoshimoto
I almost got round to cutting up some foams for the stock rubber.....More stock beadlocks in black and ordered some more Patagonia's too.Took off the brass hex's also to keep a realistic width.Yoshi [emoji851]Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
Yoshimoto
So I bit the bullet today....got a BXR at the right money from Yakhobby in the US with expedited shipping for under 70 notes all in tax prepaid....and found some cheap Chinese brass to try out...and I mean really cheap...free post and less than the magic £15 quid for the pair of knuckles and diff cover on fleabay [emoji851]I'm sure they will be fine.....[emoji51]
Yoshimoto
So it's back to a roller again untill the Mighty Tekin BXR arrives,so for now i've sold the white body and bought a clear one to do a custom colour way. Some of the Jeep 2019 factory colour's are very appealing two or three factory Gray's and silvers caught my eye....I'm really liking their take on grey 'Sting Grey' I think it will look great with a rag top in black.I haven't run the other in a week or so,but it's had a wash and lube as it looked well rough along side the fresh one.So while I haven't been crawling I have been watering the moss and lichens on the course to keep them alive.....it's Baltic in there at this time of year so I've been looking at some space heaters to keep the garage warm while I crawl and paint from time to time... any ideas for a draughty garage with roller door? Yoshimoto
Nice surprise Axial....30+ quid isn't cheap for this tiny shell but there's multiple decals and livery in the set which will deffo add some easy options when it comes to finishing [emoji41]Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
Yoshimoto
The knuckles come with a bushing arrangement.... should help with the wear induced camber from the stock plastic.Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
Yoshimoto
Wow! Big improvement for steering accuracy,I'm getting another set....Don't bother with the supplied screws...they are too long use the kit ones. There's hardly any slop anywhere but I noticed the axle's were a little more sensitive to wheel nut torque....solid overall [emoji41]Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
Yoshimoto
Get in! Another step closer....chuffed.I could be wrong but I think they shrunk the solder posts too.Sent from my Nokia 2.4 using Tapatalk
Yoshimoto
Could be the best six quid of upgrade ever bought....yet to be fitted tho...we shall see.Soldered up the BXR and went direct to ESC with the motor wires so no connector as such,I'm probably going to do this to the other one too...3.5mm gold banana plugs are massive on these tiny rigs.Rx mounted on upper rear links again and it's wired tidy enough for now, this will be revisited when I have some more time.Looking through my paint I found some Corsa grey...I think this could the be colour but it may be a bit too light even backed with black...need a test spray I suppose. Yoshimoto
£6 quid well spent... Made up some lamp holders too, can't wait to paint it,just can't rush. Since these first brass diff cover and knuckles came I've had another set arrive but there were what I thought were fitment issues causing binding,on first inspection it looked like the drive cup needs slotting deeper or the cups overall length needs trimmed...not the case I'd picked up and fitted the longer silver aftermarket screws .....I've revisited both trucks wiring and I'm only waiting on my original motor to pack up before I also wire a new can directly...no more 3.5mm plugs, they must weigh more than a set stock rims or another receiver... Yoshimoto
It's not far off at all, much lighter than stock too it's more like an ultralight race body, it's sure to bring the COG down. Still to trim the front panel as I've left as much on as possible for first fit.
12h87
Completely by coincidence I have gone for the same wheel and tyre combo as yours but on the C10 body, included pic to show the difference. I'd read that the RC4WD stamped beadlocks were a bit tight but goodness they had me sweating! Why the bolts weren't just a few threads longer I'll never know. Love the Bronco body you've gone for, I've messaged the same chap to enquire about doing a Defender...will let you know what he says. 12h87
Yoshimoto
Kit masks are poor so don't bother, just use them as templates for some masking tape....only another 3hrs polishing the creep off... Masked inside and out, clear rear lamps and headlights/front indicators,Matt finish soft top Looking at the 67 ford brochure......there's were some cool colour combos...liked the understated orange and some of the metallics too but I settled on gold in the end and although I've a bit of clean up to do the window rubbers are done and I'm just about to do the grill detail.....I've left it till last....not sure what to with it tbh. Yoshio it in. Yoshi
