ZTW only recommend their 300 amp esc up to15 kilos, that thing weighs 25 kilos, not surprised it wont run 12s reliably

25? You sure? That makes a 5ive look lightweight!

That's bonkers heavy, I'm not keen on lifting my X2, this is nudging eight kilos more!

You sure those scales aren't in pounds?

That was my first thought 11.5kg? Id have 'Thought' a brushless conversion with lipos would be lighter than an an engine, extra servo, full tank of fuel etc?

25kg is the weight of the bigger plates at the Powerlifting Gym I go to. I cannot fathom one of them going 30/40mph!?

There's no way that's lbs.

I admit both figures seem out.

25kg Seems too heavy as you say a stock DBXL is a little under 17kg. I cant see this being 8kg heavier. That said, I cant see it being 5.5kg lighter either?

Would an ESC + Motor + 8s Lipos  be 5kg lighter than an a full engine with mounts, a second servo and a full tank of fuel? Id imagine its closer to being 5.5kg lighter than that then it is to be 8kg heavier?

they sent this pic as a comparison of weight, i'm just relaying what they emailed me, obviously with buying 3 of their esc's I was a little concerned about the "8s" max, they say the esc is ok on 12s up to 15 kilo, also mentioned the high gearing in the fid was a problem on 12s

Look at the pics of the beast, there’s so much more of it! The 8kg difference over the 5ive doesnt surprise me at all, the 5ive is pretty much all plastic stock.....

But 8 kilos!? That's a lot of extra weight!

Why would they lie about the weight?

Not saying they have, it's just humongous!

to be honest, i'm not, too heavy, too big a motor  too slow☺️ 58mm can would surely be fine with a low kv on 8s?

I'm actually starting to think 8S would be lacking in this behemoth!

I'll take lighter high quality plastics over low quality, heavy aluminium though. FID doesn't have the greatest of reputations on that front.

This is supposed to have full billet CNC 6061 T6 everything, I suppose that's why it weighs a lot.

Funnily enough....

'Weight roll' from the rear (all alloy) overpowering gravity on a high grip surface can be seen in the video at 0:35 seconds in

Looks like it could land a jump from the moon on a soft surface, but I would worry about constant hard landings on hard surfaces, say concrete (@0:44).....laws of physics say that much weight landing on such a small surface area needs serious reinforcement to sustain reliability.......

I'll not knock it though until I've seen a user review...too many unknowns...

  • 1 year later...

I bought this car in february. In general I am very satisfied with the quality and the performance on 8s. I have done quite a lot of running, at least 5 bash  meetings and some track running and even rock crawled with it( video on my channel)

There are some weak points like the front hinge pins and the rear swaybar but in general it is as durable as a 5ive-t or mcd.

Here is my last bash video from yesterday.   It flies well for a 25 kg car...
