Mach *.28 engine nightmare!

My Mach 28 has been giving me trouble for a long time now. It just won’t hold a tune and when it idles it is very erratic revving up and down randomly. I’m not new to the hobby so all the tuning on the engine is right I’ve spent days tuning it so it’s not that issue. I’ve replaced the head gaskets and it still doesn’t work.

There’s some smoke coming from the head of the engine as well. The only thing I haven’t tried is a new glow plug but I doubt that will be the issue will it?

Thanks all help is greatly appreciated!

I used to have the same problem, but I cured it with some ptf tape. If you look down at the engine, the screw on the left will be too loose and that's why you lose the tune. Just unscrew it and wrap a small amount of ptf tape around it and replace. I never had a problem after that

Mach .28's a fantastic motor, or was as a spare for my Raminator when it was nitro.

Never heard negative press for it other than it runs hot.

I preferred my LRP motors when I ran it nitro, but was always surprised when I put the 'copperhead' Mach .28 in it!

Bit of a surprise that.
