Converting HB d815 to brushless

PRAETORIAN

Recommended Posts

Hi all

As title really. I have a d815 nitro buggy roller that i would like to convert to brushless.

Looking for pointers and if anyone knows if a straight up conversion kit is availabe?

I know HB share parts with HPI models so perhaps I could buy HPI electric parts and retrofit them?

Anyone have experience of converting the d815? I have done a cursory google and nothing is leaping out.

Cheers

I've two converted 812's.  One using the trophy mount and the other an unknown slider mount.  Both use Vorza type batt trays which entailed some new chassis holes.  I didn't convert either but if you want to have a look some good pics are in my thread about them.

A quick google also shows some 3rd party electric conversion parts too.

I wouldn't trust the HPI Trophy motor mount. It's cast alloy and I've snapped 2 of them (which also damaged the motors).

Weren't massively hard hits either.

There cheap, this one's held up around the track fine.  It's not the best mount I've used but nothing wrong with it in my use.  I've seen them bodged into H7 conversions too and holding up fine there.
