Winter storage...?

Afternoon...  this may be a random question....

What do you guys do for storing your petrol rc's over the winter period?

I keep mine in my shed, obviously it's not insulated and its been freezing these last few days. it can get very cold and damp (just from freezing moisture in the air).

To avoid rusting and engine seizures... and ideals or tips?

I've been out this afternoon and let them run in the garden for 10 - 15 minutes each.

Don't think the missus will let me keep them under the bed ?

This is the other thing ...

If you're used to taking them out during the rest of the year, and we're not talking the Algarve, then you're still likely to encounter 'nice' (cold, dry, sunny) Winter days and you'll definitely want to go out in that ....

every couple of days fire them up let them idle for a couple mins. you can also spray some WD40 to displace the moisture in the head.

I'm going to look out for a huge tote with clamping sides. Then mix some cement fill up a 50l bin whatever with chain dipped in and use that to anchor the tote.

At the least it'll give any theifs long enough to be heard by the dog. Probably a better way though lol.

  +1 atom

-drain fuel from tank, lines, and bowl.

-pull spark plug

-chuck in some 3in1 oil down plug hole

-pull the pull start a few times to coat your cylinder walls.

- leave piston at tdc to seal c.chamber

-replace plug

Just as atom said, bung 3-1 on your exposed bearings

Also disconnect any batts, to stop vampire power occuring (drawing power when dead/off), or cold killing the cells

Honestly, if they're only going to be sat for a couple of weeks to a month, you really don't need to do anything.

I never have and I've never had any bad come from it.

Draining the fuel is about all I'd do and possibly unplug the battery for safety, aside from that, oiling bearings and all that nonsense, you really don't need to.

The worst that'll happen to them is they'll be dusty
