Be afraid, VERY AFRAID!!

Imagine that on full power, out of control and coming towards you, knowing it's driven by a 10-year-old !!!

I know, there are a lot of Kart champs younger than that perfectly capable of driving one, but ...

Turnigy 5000mah 2S 20C hard case fit fine, wires come out top side so need to mod battery tray.

It its this one https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-5000mah-2s-20c-lipo-pack.html then I'm not sure if that fits the Blitz flux - manual says 143x47x31mm.

Can't find the size for the e-firestorm.  Looks like stock on the FS is a problem so may end up with blitz,

A higher discharge rate is recommended on one of the combo's can't remember which one off the top of my head.

Thanks I'll grab one or two of those, do I need to solder a deans connector for the HPI or is their an adapter cable?

As I said check discharge rate requirements first.

According to HPI's site the Flux ESC is rated at 80amps to if I understand Lipos correctly then 5000mAH at 20C should be fine.

Is that correct or did you mean something else?

Think I'll order the Turnigy nano-tech 5800mah 2S2P 30~60C Hardcase Lipo Pack from Hobbyking, size seems to be same as the on MS list.

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-5800mah-2s2p-30-60c-hardcase-lipo-pack-roar-approved.html

Better choice, as that battery won't limit your next RC choice, plus a higher C battery, like for like MAH, will 'feel' punchier to drive as the voltage should sag less under load.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you to everybody for your input.

HPI Blitz Flux, Overlander charger and Lipo bag ordered to go with the batteries and connectors from hobbyking.

Hopefully I should have everything needed to get up and running on Christmas day.

I'm sure there will be a number of other items I'll need on the maintenance side in the future, just wading my way through the e-firestorm thread....

Cheers

I got a few traxxas 2wd models and there great but I have spent a fortune on them, the hpi blitz and firestorm look much better value, grab a spare set of wheels and tires for the rear and keep a set for on road / car parks and a set for off road

Charging cheap. My vote goes to:

For 2s batteries I'd be all for 2 of these el cheapo: Should last you a while if you charge at 80% of !C (ie: a 5000mah @ 4A.)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Sell-iMAX-B6-LCD-Screen-Digital-RC-Lipo-NiMh-Battery-Balance-Charger-/142119951226?hash=item2117025b7a:g:~eYAAOxydlFSwhpY

With 1 of these, do the mod to the end then powering them both at once:

Can have 2 lipo's then :)

Dual charge setup for <£35 :yes:

when you all inevitably decide on 3s you can drop 2 cheap 80w ones on there no worries.

You could pay a little more for an Overlander RC6-VSP (can only do 1 at a time tho ;))

Actually scratch that. Just spotted these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/C610AC-10A-100W-AC-DC-Dual-Power-Rapid-Balance-Charger-for-LiPo-Batteries-N7H8-/322327917019?var=&hash=item4b0c3db1db:m:mBr1AwOzLkcud0dySAraM5g

A lot of beans for not too much £££.

Or:

https://www.robotbirds.co.uk/default/chargers-power-supply-leads/chargers/ft680-ac-dc-80watt-charger.html

A 2s 5000mah for true 1C 5A needs about 46w so a 50W would be flat out. Just thought I'd give you food for thought.
