  1. Thank you to everybody for your input. HPI Blitz Flux, Overlander charger and Lipo bag ordered to go with the batteries and connectors from hobbyking. Hopefully I should have everything needed to get up and running on Christmas day. I'm sure there will be a number of other items I'll need on the maintenance side in the future, just wading my way through the e-firestorm thread.... Cheers
  2. Will probably be a blitz as no firestorms in stock. I checked the battery dimensions from the HPI manual online so size should be fine.
  3. Think I'll order the Turnigy nano-tech 5800mah 2S2P 30~60C Hardcase Lipo Pack from Hobbyking, size seems to be same as the on MS list. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-5800mah-2s2p-30-60c-hardcase-lipo-pack-roar-approved.html
  4. Did you find somewhere with stock, seems to be sold out in most places. Was going to buy one but may have to get a blitz instead.
  5. According to HPI's site the Flux ESC is rated at 80amps to if I understand Lipos correctly then 5000mAH at 20C should be fine. Is that correct or did you mean something else?
  6. Thanks I'll grab one or two of those, do I need to solder a deans connector for the HPI or is their an adapter cable?
  7. It its this one https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-5000mah-2s-20c-lipo-pack.html then I'm not sure if that fits the Blitz flux - manual says 143x47x31mm. Can't find the size for the e-firestorm. Looks like stock on the FS is a problem so may end up with blitz,
  8. Thanks, I'll start with 2s and work up from there!
  9. Going to order a firestorm or flux. Which Hobbyking Lipo (2s) do i need, Should I get the Overlander RC6-VSP from MS, or is there a better option? Thx
  10. Thanks, for the heads up I'll keep an eye on the auction.
  11. Thanks for all of the input, I'll take another look at the HPI models. Apart from the brushed/brushless motors are there any other differences between the versions of the blitz?
  12. I had originally thought around £200 but that soon got blown out of the water when I started looking at brushless. I certainly don't want to go much more that the Rustler VXL price, however I expect I may need to get a decent charger and possibly spare battery. The speed is bit of a worry, but hopefully the training mode on the Traxxas should bring it down to something reasonable.
  13. Hi I am currently looking to purchase a good electric RC car for my 12yo son. He has had a couple Revellutions rc cars from costco but these have either broken or the batteries worn out, so I thought I would get him something better. I built Tamiya BigWig which I used top race many years ago so initially thought about going down the Tamiya kit route, however after looking around think that a RTR model which can be upgraded and worked on might be a better idea. The car will be mainly used in the local park on grass, the BMX track and in the car park so initially wanted a buggy but think a truggy may be more suitable. It looks like brushless is the way to go so was thinking about something like the Rustler VXL, I liked the idea of training mode and the TSM function may be useful. I also looked at the HPI E-Firestorm which may be more robust but doesn't have the training mode or TSM. Am I on the right track or are there any other options. I guess once my son has one then I may need to get something better for myself to race him with ;-) Thanks
