F1 - Australia - your verdict?

OK, I'll own up, I love F1 - 'cars going round and round' - fair enough ...

Thing is, like 'our hobby', the more you get into it, the more you understand, and the more you get into it ....

Mercs looking hotter than ever, probably running a little light on fuel hence going to fuel save - showing they ARE the ones to chase.

Williams had some bad luck, but I reckon they're there or there abouts - will cash in on any Merc bad luck, and keep them honest.

Ferrari? NICE!! They're back. Perhaps not in qualifying, yet, but I'm sure Finger'll throw in a few Banzai efforts during the season. They DO have race pace - so again can keep the Mercs honest.

Sauber - what was that all about? Van der Garde? $$$ they hint - don't own up to. Pity. The Saubers were genuinely fast.

Force India - give them a race or 2 and they'll get better I reckon - Merc power.

McLaren - Oh McLaren!! Speaking as a Honda owner as well .... pre-season was plain embarrassing. I reckon the race wasn't!! They might have something in 3 races' time. These cars are SO complex, even super-power car manufacturers can't get it right.

Renault - Oh dear!! Danni and Danni - 2 REALLY good talents - come on Renault, get your act together. Then there's the REALLY young talents - they were REALLY good - Renault let them down. Sainz and Verstappen - plain brilliant for a 1st GP.

THEN THERE WAS ARNIE AT THE END!! "I thought you were taller man!!" Classic Lewis!

Race was a procession, I accept, but I can see a lot that can happen. Like it.

YOUR THOUGHTS?

Al.

i gave up watching it last year as it has got so bad.  and i was someone who would watch every race live.  we all know the big F cheated years ago  but then RB seemed to take over doing the same.  also teams working together to stop rules coming in that might of made the sport better was a letdown.

It was a good race, there's going to be some good races between the Williams and Ferrari throughout the season that should be good.

I hope that McLaren get on top of their problems soon as I know they have a good car and a powerful engine they just need them to get them to work lol.

Manor a team that has no money went to the race with a car that they'd never stared up therefore they didn't race due to car problems, that money could have been spent on getting the car working.

Sauber had a great race and I can see the next Senna in Nassa so I look forward to watching him over the next few years. Williams should have given him a drive this year instead of Massa as he brings a lot of money and in all the p1s that he did they wasn't far off him.

Red bull was a little bit of a disappoint today. Its funny that they now want the rules to be changed to benefit them.

And Maldonado had a crash that wasn't his fault!!!!

Loved the comment - Maldonado had an accident that wasn't his fault!

BTCC?  Always liked that, but Plato's changed that - bleating when he's not winning. He is a good driver, but needs to knock a couple of chips off his shoulders.

Are Honda fielding that stupid estate thing again?

Was not a great season opener what with the small grid and lack of racing.

Merc. performance gap to the others was more than I expected......and I was kind of hoping Nico would have a bit more fire in his belly.

Williams I thought would have a bit more performance than they did.

Surprise was Ferrari...and good to see Kimi looking more comfortable with it.

Redbull....lucky to scrape a reasonable result with Ricciardo.....and lol at the tears (just politics really) now the shoe is on the other foot.

Looking grim for Mcl/Honda...but at least they finished a race distance...even though plum last and a long way behind. Car does look to drive well...and unsure what Perez was thinking with that attempted overtake...

New guys looked soild....Renault dreadful......and Maldonado unlucky?!  :36_11_13[1]:

Bring on the next race...

F1 has become a boring tedious exspensive load of rubbish and I have been a fan since my earliest memory's but the last few years the love has completely gone for it ..

Perhaps if the FIA employed the likes of Alan Gow the spark might come back

All I can say is thank god will still have the mighty BTCC to watch instead now that's quality motor sport !

didn't know you was into British touring cars pal! Nice love it, I used to got to the car meatings and stay over because the super bikes followed the next weekend, only if it was to far to come home, and we used to get some testing in as we waited lol! Edited by flatout!

Plato being a baby makes it all the more fun. Honda have the new type-r hatch this year which looks awesome.

Love seeing push em off Plato get beat, even if my lad sulks for a week, sadly he thinks Plato is some sort of Demi-god!

Caught that about the Type-R on the CIVINFO Forum.

F1 Malaysia this weekend - Bottas and Alonso are supposed to be back.

Expect Bottas to go well, Alonso still hasn't much choice, yet!

Plato - mmhh. Picking a fight with Matt Neal is like picking a fight with Gerrard - both martial arts specialists at varying levels!!
