The Savage truth.

Cheers! It feels weird talking to the camera and it's not easy to keep the verbal flow going. I kept tripping over my own words!

I'll probably do one for the Super 5sc flux, that's been a fun journey and is definitely worth talking about, preferably without............stalling! ;)

didnt think you did that bad and im sure ive see you before

So, a small alteration. I've never liked C or E clips, they're a pain to get on and quite often ping off, never to be seen again.

So today I replaced the pins in the Integy Deletes with 60mm bolts and nyloc nuts. There's a Teflon washer behind both the bolt head and the nut.

I've added a shim to remove any slop from the hex, works a treat.

The hexes came with smooth holes, I've tapped one side to allow the use of screw-pins.

Re-assembled and good to go.

Also, she started making a nasty screeching just recently. The only time I've heard that noise before was from the Baja, turned out to be the pinion was worn! I fitted a new one and that sorted it.

So last night I fitted a new pinion to the Savvy, I didn't have another 12 tooth, so went with a 13. I couldn't test last night, but will report back if the new pinion has cured the screech.

End transmission.

Just took a quick look at the video - good job ....

Not sure I agree with 'that's what they're there for' regarding the flip onto the lid, 'though I am a bit of a 'shelf specialist' lately!!

Good job mate.

Tug, the hub's scraping the carrier - losing speed here mate.

Shim the purple hub off the red carrier - just a little - enough not to scrape.

Yeah, that was dealt with very soon after the build, a second shim was squeezed in.

Cheers anyway.

The only problem with MT's cf buggies and truggies is the relative bulk, and grip roll.

Everything else is a bonus!!

If our roads were 3x as big, with 1/10 the circulation and 1/20 the fuel and servicing costs I'd consider one as my daily runner!!

Had another quick pack over the park, now on 15/52, things ran hotter than I'd like! I think a solder joint actually started to give! This is not good and will be addressed, starting with the gearing! I think I'll source a new 12 tooth pinny, that gearing gave no issues.

I think I'll also swap the Castle 3M ESC for an Xerun, 150 Amp instead of 120 Amp. The Xerun will be bolted to the underside of the cab roof, this will tuck it up out of harms way.

I'll post up some pics as I do it.

What cell count are you running? I use 12/52 on 6s and it does get warm but nothing major....apart from when I was out in the snow and I didn't let off the throttle for near enough a full pack....ended up melting one of the bullet connectors on the motor!!

6S, motor and ESC were both toasty, didn't have temp gun with me, but both were mid forties when I got home and they've both got cooling fans! Definitely dropping back to a 12 tooth! She's plenty fast enough on a 12, longer runtimes too.

The fans were running all the way home!

Yup, I'm happy with mine on the 12t, power is good and I get 25-30 mins on 5000mah which ain't too bad in my opinion :)

Although I have but the bullet and I'm sorting out a 1717....the temptation was too much, I couldn't resist.

Yeah, the 12 gave speed and runtime, I'll order one tonight.

I was going to fit my 1717, but I'm liking the Leopard too much! I will swap motors eventually, probably when the Leopard dies.

A new 12 tooth pinny is fitted, mesh seems spot on, she accelerates quietly again.

If you're running the CD mount, I really don't think you can run anything over 1800kv. The 1480kv that I'm running is geared low at 12/52, but still produces very high top speeds. OK, I'm only talking 6S, but with this set-up I can run 4, 5 or 6 cells and she's fine. This gearing with a 2200kv would be insane on 6S.

I wore out my original 12 tooth, cheap brand. So I fitted what I had to hand, a 15. This was OK, but temps on the combo both climbed, nothing scorchio, but the temps would definitely have been an issue come summer.

With no reduction gearbox, the final drive ratio seems a lot higher. Hence lower gearing.

Just been giving her the beans in the fading light, all is well. Still surprised at how fast she is for just 1480kv, even if it is on 6S, it's still fast for a low kv.

Will try 4S next, just to see. If she's quick enough on the lower voltage, I should see 40ish minutes from her because of the low current draw from the low kv motor.
