YORKSHIRENEO
Well thought id take the plunge and went out and bought this: Let the fun and games commence! Any helpful hints/tips/build threads etc very much appreciated
Ewan.Mackay
That radio system will be no use, you need a 3 channel radio and a third channel killswitch. Killswitch is pretty much a must to save any BIG problems if your car takes itself for a walk...
YORKSHIRENEO
Well got it from Model Sport as a combo package so its what they recommended. Also states it has a built in failsafe (which is not the same as a killswitch im guessing). The receiver is three channel so idk. If its not the right one then i'll be taking a trip back then! Madmini
From building mine I advise taking a look at the tools and the engine and ensure they packed the right tools to undo the screws. I also found my choke leaver was broken. All sorted under warrenty but worth checking before you get into the build so your not held up waiting for stuff
Popular Post Ewan.Mackay
Yeah killswitch lets you cut off the engine from the remote, failsafe only puts on the brakes (and most of the time dont work). Id advise buying a killswitch from http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/user/25607-jolly-roger-uk/ Most people on this forum run his killswitches and theyre great (ive got a couple myself). I would definetely reccomend fitting one asap because if that goes hurtling off at full speed and hits someone im sure you have a general idea what it would feel like... nigel63
both of mine have the jolly roger kill switches fitted and are great value for money, some people will tell you to buy other makes of kill switch which are more expensive, take the above advise and get the jolly roger one, also you can find jolly roger on here if you need advise or support, you dont get that service elsewhere.
Bigjimknickers
Got my km baja today, ordered my jollyroger killswitch this morning, there a pretty good insurance for your investment.
Oh How Original
Usually these 'combo packages' aren't what's best for your model, it's what's best for the site to sell. HPI already offer a 2Ch radio with the RTR models which should be 3 by rights. Get yourself a Flysky GT3B, for the money, they're about as good as it gets, 10 model memory, loads of trim/expo/dual rate settings etc...
yoodoo
Never used a Jollyroger,I have used KillerBee on all mine without problems.
Nitroholic
They all do the same thing. You can usually use a killwsitch on a 2 channel....but you would have to switch off the TX to trigger remote kill. In practice, the 3rd channel button is easy to find when you need it in a hurry. Happened to me when a throttle servo died just as the throttle hit wide open. Released the throttle, and it kept on full gas. Click....roll to a stop. No drama. Swapped throttle servo for a spare I had with me, and just carried on. No killswitch, and my Baja would have been unstoppable, and I would have to try and steer it to a safe 'crash' and get to the kill button to stop the engine while it revved itself to oblivion
HarveyC
I had a similar experience as Nitroholic with my Maverick MT, only in my case the throttle servo failed at idle. Unfortunately when I got to the model, I stupidly 'twiddled' the servo to see if it was jammed, whereapon, 'cause the engine was still running, it took off like the preverbial .. Thank goodness for the kill switch,. press of the the button... engine stopped immediately... potentially nasty situation averted... Noj
Order a set of dark soul o'rings and some associated green slime for the shocks; stock o rings are poor... Innovative chassis brace is a must, as are Rob's hinge pins, hexes over e clips, in fact, just ditch all the stock plates and braces for Innovative kit, much stronger and far nicer looking

Bigjimknickers
Bought one off him Wednesday am, delivered Thursday, top guy & a top service, easy to fit too, just study the instructions & you'll be fine. I never fitted one for about a month on my last Baja, but really I should've, from day 1.
