It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that it's allways cheaper to import from the US. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. You have to work out the total cost with shipping and VAT and duties added. Shipping costs can be a real shocker for larger items such as a kit as well. Also be aware that in case of a defective item you'll probably have to ship it back to the US as UK dealers will not usually have anything to do with it.

However I have found buying small items from the US often works out cheaper as shipping can be really cheap and often not subject to taxes and duties.

You may have issues with batteries nowadays though. A lot of carriers will not take them and the specialists charge more.

You also have to consider the import duties, VAT ( if any) and handling costs. You may not get hit with them....but if you do, then you have no option but to pay up. You want to be sure that even if you have to pay up, you are not worse off.

I recently bought a set of alloy forks for my Anderson M5 from the US, and had to pay
