My first lipo fire...

Met up with a couple guys for a quick rc bash after work today, which was great :)

All was going really well until I pushed my lipo a little to far...

(Battery tray is a little worse for wear and a bit smelly lol)

Everything still works fine though. I reckon its time for some better spec lipos though...

She saw the smoke and was all "fire fire"

Cant believe how much smoke was coming from it - proper nasty stuff too

I know how you feel... Happend to me on Monday. Pack came loose after practicing backflips and got caught in the spur gear. I came off lightly as only one of the 6cells popped and the one next to it expanded from heat exposure, so removed the two damaged cells and now use it as a 4s pack.

what was the battery

also note you are in herts me too we need to meet up and smash things

I'm in letchworth dude, whereabouts do you hail from?

@ NOFX Yeah it was a hobbyking 5800mah 4s lipo 30-40c

I think my set up was too much for it, I'm running a 4284 2000kv leopard motor, hobbywing 150a esc with 17/46 gearing (or 48t, I can never remember lol)

Lipo wasnt old either, always balanced charged and always put into storage mode when not being used. Its been fine when doing jumps etc but a few all out runs killed it (was racing a nitro hpi bullet haha!)

*quick edit*

I didnt balance charge one of the lipos as I was in a rush to get out - pretty sure that was the one that went up in smoke

Hey mate. Glad to see your ok. I remember my first scare in the hobby. My battery smoked when i was charging it for the third time. I was only in the hobby a week and had little info on charging. My fault. lol. Once again bash hard and stay safe.

My first scare was an esc going up in flames - I bought a second hand combo from a member on here ages ago, saw that the blades were knackered so I decided to replace the fan. No probs :) had to make a spacer for it though, fitted it and took my truggy out for its maiden run.

2 minutes in and the esc died!

That made for a most troublesome experience lol
