Raven with LEDs for night flying.

Recommended Posts

Are your LED's just mounted to the surface or have out cut a slot in the foam and slotted them in? ive seen on some wing builds with LED's they have cut a slit with a knife and put the led strip inside so it illuminates the foam itself.

My LEDs are just stuck on as they come with a sticky back strip on them..

Arh right cheers, did you not fancy controlling the LED's from a switich? Mind you if your flying at dusk you don't want them going off lol haha What plug did you put on the 1metre strip or did you just cut and solder them on.

Solderd Female JST plugs on to the LED stripps..

and got one of these leads to plug LEDs into balance lead.

I bought the mega deal mate as I already have a 5 channel radio set. I just need some fancy lights lol. The only thing i don't have is the UHU por glue and the other contact adhesive plus glassweave tape so going to go to the local model shop tomorrow for that.

You can use epoxy to glue the wing together.. fibertape can be bought in office supply stores.

My Build.

Note....

Only remove the foam from where the Li-Po sits.. do this before you glue the wing together..

Use metal geared 9gram servos.Trust me on this..

Get a few spare 6x4 props ..

I use these Li-Pos in my Raven from Hobbyking UK

Ive seen your build already as thats what I looked at to see what was involved. Good vid. Why did you replace the foam for the ecs and receiver? Surely they want to be nice and snug in a little well etc.Cheers for the battery link, i'll get a couple

As we fly our Raven for Combat , so are at WOT most of the time. I wanted my ESC to stay cool, thats why I reglued the foam back into place..

If I was building another Raven , I'd glue/stick some plywood to the bottom of the fuse, just the same as the Slipstream from Flyingwings is done..

I've just finished building my Hobbyking Combat and Slope Soaring Wing (Maidened it on Saterday)

When I was putting that together I glued a piece of plywood to the bottom of that and added extra carbonfiber spars to stiffen the wing up ..

What's the purpose of the ply mate? have you just stuck it to the underside of the wing and taped over it? Is that the square bulge I can see on the black taped section?

It's just for added strength in the center of the wing (2mm thick 2.5"wide x 7" length )

stuck on with foam safe spray-on glue , then fiber taped over ,then the black cover tape over that..
