THE E-Firestorm Thread

Recommended Posts

Just back from the Jam and after lots of ramping and backflips only managed to break a front upright after a full speed head on collision with a 1/8 truggy so very happy with that.

  • 2 weeks later...

Planing on upgrading to a brushless system on my Firestorm, and the massive amount of options and info out there is just overwhelming.

Figured it would help if my fellow Firestorm owners could post which Cell/ESC/Motor combo you run in your car :)

So far I've ended up with this setup, any thoughts? :

Supposedly it is waterproof (which is importaint)

Thank you!

I run the stock 5700kv Flux motor with the HPI Motiv ESC (stock again) runs really well on 2s but the motor does get (very) hot and that is a known problem with the stock firestorm. I'll fix that one day though... I run Turnigy LiPO's ~5000mah 30-40c but that is a little overkill. But better to be safe than sorry ;)

I was just about to post up as I need more LiPO's and wondered what you all ran?? I like the Turnigy Nano-Techs but wanted some suggestions of ones that fit :D :D

Cheers,

Good little combo however it won't be waterproof.

"Little" hmm, do you think I could go with a faster motor? :D

Are there any waterproof systems around? Do I really need them to ride on snow and in rain?

Cheers

Yep, waterproof systems are about. But why would you want to go out when it's that wet? It's a bit of fun I guess but tbh, unless you clean the car after (very well too) it will go rusty and bearings will fail faster. The new firestorm comes with a waterproof system, and the traxxas vxl system is a half decent waterproof system too. Unless the brushless motor is sensored (not really needed or recommended) the motor is waterproof anyway and it is just the ESC that actually needs to be.

Just warning you, but I have ran mine what it was damp and I just made some guards that worked fairly well :)

Good luck with your find!

Cheers,

Cam
