  1. You can't maintain bushings like bearings, for casual trailing i'm sure they are fine and one 1/18 were the weight is low its ok. Dust and dirt will grind into the bushing, wearing it away ruining the bushing and axle 2 replacements when it would usally be a single bearing. Same with if the transmission output a massive bushing, bearings arnt that expensive. However for example if you want to upgrade to improve performance, it usually means adding weight and there for stress on the drive line, bearings handle this better also increased runtime due too less friction. Maybe you want to upgrade to a brushless system or do harder crawling your not set to do this without high expense stiffening the driveline with metal links etc, the older kits are better value for money. Every experience i have had with plastic or cheap shocks is bad, you really pay for what you get here and whilst element are known for good shocks the best way to reduce cg is flip them. Pric e will be a big pinch point and this too me seems cheap, if its sub 200 its in the right spot, if its over that the gatekeeper or enduro are far better quality and bang for your buck.
  2. New enduro, with the new axles. I love inner fenders, nice to see them this time. That being said i would not touch this rig with some one elses 10 foot pole, full of bushings, plastic shocks, simply gross cost cutting. Get the older v2 builders kits that have propper hardware.
  3. Edit: Element have announced new axles with updated diffs with machined gears and bigger pinion bearings for the solid axles, the diffs can be a bit cheesy under strong brushless power when reversing. Maybe hold out getting a element kit as im sure these will be in the next release.
  4. I 2nd the trx4 for being bomb proof and portals are great for the trails, the only weak point is the amount of portal bearings to deal with when you get wet / rusty and the load they take means you do have to replace them often. The element i have submarined and never replaced a bearing and much less off them. Glug glug.
  5. check you have the little copper washer on the glowplug also, it might be sitting to low also worth checking your fuel is fresh and high enough nitro content for the engine and plug
  6. £289.00 on MS upcoming, that poor little brushed motor wont last long imo. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/associated-rival-mt10-rtr-truck-brushed-with-7.4v-power-bundle-1347496
  7. Cant go wrong with the element kits, the shocks are butterly smooth, transmission can be overdriven and is very smooth and quiet. Dont think it will dissapoint. No experience with the others but im sure Axial and HPI fans will speak up. Good places in the midlands to run would be Habberly Valley, Burton Dasset, Bradgate Park.
  8. Indeed, all the builds rocked, i dont have a vanquish so its a banggood special for me 😛, got the steering sorted, shock's mounted and a couple of test passes. Its so bouncy 24mph needs faster sensored motor for sure.
  9. Was a enjoyable watch all the contestants did an amazing job on their videos and builds, high production value indeed and entertaining. Got started on my build as got a truck that isnt getting used and seems like a decent platform to work off.
  10. Started working out my fastest crawler build. Ditched the gearbox, direct dive into the transmission retaining 4wd. Ditched the towers, some small spring shocks wanting it to just sit off the diffs. Mocked up the drive line, aiming for all changes to be reversable, no extra holes, uses existing mounting points, element servo plate with a tamiya motor mount bolted to an offcut, no expense to spare. Aiming for 35mph first, run if it goes well, have to see how it does at ROSSA.
  11. Do it. My gens ace 3s 800mha gives me more than a days running time, as the mha is so low they dont really degrade over time ive found, remotes ive left on and 0v ed the cells its still come back to life, i run a s2 850mha overlander and a 3s as a backup. both come in about 9£ each I also made a 2s 1200mha pack but thats used for winches and boats. Cost about 8£
  12. Theres no ally ones, yep they aint the strongest, the shock towers should break before the diff cover, but im guessing your running carbon or metal towers so all the force is going into the diff housing. This is normal wear, they will eventually fail but should take a fair bit to wear them out, try putting a bit of rubber hose or o ring in the cup to stop the dogbone bouncing around as that can increase wear at speed. yes ftx dogbones are made of cheese.
  13. Got a pic, i thought the vantage has a slipper and a rear diff output no gearbox, unless your wanting a metal spur gear? Yes they do those. If your smashing cups, the next fail point will be the drive shafts or ring and pinion diff gears, the question id be asking why are the cups smashing, ive had ftx cups over 100mph they seem to hold up just fine.
  14. Been planning on doing this for some time, maybe others want to join in taking an old crawler rig and making it fast. I know Tomley RC holds the uk record right now with his Speed Phoenix at 70mph+, epic stuff! Rules like the Montly Mayhem Tomley took part in, without the need for it to be a phoenix. Must be a 1/10 crawler, no monster trucks or buggies, two solid axles, frame chassis, locked diffs, drive shafts. Solid axles the truck came with or with out portals. Use the same chassis rails and frame that came with the truck. Must use atleast 70% of the crawler body. Must have shock absorbers and be 3 / 4 link. Standardish crawler wheel base within 5cm of the stock wheelbase adjustment allowed. Nitro permitted. Tranmission can be swapped. 2wd and 4wd permitted 6wd+ not permitted. 4s battery limit. No engine or motor limits. No wheel size limits. Use GPS to record results. Any one else got a rig they want to build up?
  15. the R1 and the GOM are seperate class the R1 is 1/10 scale and has a really fiddly transmission to remount its also top heavy and imo wasnt a performer on the rocks as due to the short wheel base (even extended) high right height (even when reduced) terrible shocks that are basically friction shocks the GOM is much bigger and open so should be less issues when rebuilding
  16. They are huge, way bigger than 1/10 pushing more 1/8th scale, was surprised when i saw one as thought they were much smaller. That being said from what i saw performed awesomely on the rocks, if i didnt have a yeti id probably have one of these.
  17. 30kg extronix servo is a waste of money and will likely burn out, every one i have bought has died on 6v, please avoid. PowerHD has never died on me, reccommend 30kg hv one of those instead of etronix. The fusion is also not ideal imo as its a combined unit and the esc / bec is built in so when it pops you have to replace everything (they are not as reliable and not repairable) The r2 axe 550 3300kv combo is going to be your best option imo, loads of speed and power allowing gearing down and volting up (stronger bec also).
  18. corrosion x on everything always, maybe a quick brush with some oil after a shower / bath to stop flash rust
  19. Redback

    Traxxas XRT 8s

post when you get one, you've been on about getting a trx4 for years 😉
  20. I think the zorro has the cage right its just the lexan panles your missing. And need to remove the side guards from the chassis.
  21. surprised to hear vanquish shocks leaking, could just flip them upside down, prevents leaks when the right way up. that being said the transmissions are loud, lots of gears and space inside to echo about.
  22. maybe the element samuria body, its more 1/7th scale the issue with the kanyon is its not a 1/10 truck so not many 1/10 shells will fit it. Its more 1/8th scale. maybe a 1/8th rally body will fit.
  23. ill take tha hobao servo alone if your willing to split it for 9£ shipped Edit: sorry cant go through with purchase never mind
  24. SST 2022 Rocked! Fully locked Yeti performed great. Bronco was troublesome, kept sucking batteries dry, 6000mha in 10 min. cutting out due to lvc, signal loss, gremlins. But drove well when it worked, all the upgrades and practice showed. Spent all the time with the gatekeeper that took 2 batteries over the entire day. Broke the c hubs within the first hour so picked up some brass ones as no spares available. Very nice upgrade well worth it. Well worth the trip, massive funds raised for charity, awesome people and atmosphere to boot, fantastic weekend for anyone everyone's so friendly and open to chat or help out.
