Service due on the motor. 2 and a half years old, just over 20K miles and they tell me it needs spark plugs. Seriously - last petrol car I owned had em changed every 60k miles with a gap check/ adjustment every service. Madness

Nope, condition based servicing says inspection and oil change. Service schedule says park plugs as part of every other oil change. Live and learn, I keep saying now I work close by and don't have young children that I'll just buy beaters that I'll work on myself / scap when necessary... but then never do. Maybe another year on this one then will see again.
-
Yeah I was thinking with such a new car you'd wanna retain the service history. Don't those newer three pots run a healthy amount of boost to compensate for lack of displacement?
My brother has one as an instructor car (not the BMW), it's a right hoot to drive can't tell it's a 1.0l the way it delivers such a torquey power band.

He was a proper spammer as well, not seen one like that for years. Deleted him, good work @capri-boy catching him early.

Still working. Spy a shiny RC to give me something to do at the weekends.. and miss out. Hope everyone is staying safe and well.

Was that on here or eBay @capri-boy ?
I went to buy something on here the other day, ...said I was interested in the thread and followed that up with a PM only to be told I missed out as had sold to someone else. Frustrating because nobody else had posted any interest in the FS thread and imho that's the way it should be done to stop multiple people PMing the seller about the same item or wasting peoples time.

20% ebay code, limited sellers...

Who knew a stock Outlaw brushless could do 80mph using a 5S lipo....

Finally receive my USA order from January..... stung for customs (handling charge twice as much as the vat) only to find it's short of a couple of items. Cross is an understatement.

Anyone here upto speed with MTB's - specifically tyre options? Don't have time to research or learn a new hobby - just want some advice on what tyres I can fit to my Hybrid. Ta

Recon G6 this weekend - roll call of whose going? So long as it doesn't tip it down I shall be there Sun to shoot again - will be good to put more faces to names.

Traxxas selling kits..... does this mean they'll attempt to patent the unbuilt RC now?
-
eBay alternatives for low volume and price sellers? Just cottoned on (been a rough couple years) to the auto relist charge (35p) for 'free' listings. Not impressed.
-
Yh - something like 20 FREE listings as month as standard, but there's always an offer for 100 a day etc etc (varies) - these extra ones get used BEFORE your stock 20 - and these extra ones don't allow you to end after 7, 30 days etc - always good till cancelled. Good till cancelled actually means 30 days then a chargeable relist...

Traxxas should go after these things rather than destroy the legitimate competition.- Show previous comments 9 more

Having a bad day? New owner of my car has. Paid for it, signed receipt - gets in, turns key, selects gear and promptly crashes into the front of my house. Gutted for her - no injuries thankfully - brickwork damage is minor to a bay window (none supporting wall) and damage to my prev immaculate car looks to be limited to the bonnet - unless the slam panel behind the bumper is damaged.

Seen the new arrma shells from Proline? f u g l y as sin.

Grumpy old man rant. So you've splashed a grand on a drone. Good for you. Don't try to tell me your pic over a built up city is under the UK max height. I've hundreds of hours as a private pilot and know full well what 400ft up looks like. Some poor sods family will have plod knock on the door sooner or later with the worst news caused by a drone.

totally agree Capri I believe its down to the community too to share these people who ruin our hobby one of the reason I stopped fly last year was the amount of public who tried lecturing me with rules they didn't know even moaned about a spotter with my mate sat next to me while I flew fatsharks jeez seen it all the worst is when they watch you come in to land on the matt and walk right out in front of you mental !!

This is the point though.
Laws already existed to cover the things capri-boy is talking about. The Gatwick Incident was a clear example of those rules being ignored deliberately, and the result is tighter laws....why?
The existing laws covered the hazards, and instead of the focus on being WHY the laws were not enforced and how that should be done, it has rapidly switched to increased restrictions on the personal freedoms of EVERYONE in order to do what exactly? How would things be different if I went and bought a quad off E-bay and headed for Gatwick to fly it over the runway. All that is changed is that there are now additional places further away from the airports that I cannot fly in where I could perfectly safely have flown before.
The press standard these days is for rabid scaremongering. Just look at the Brexit coverage....Apparantly we will have no hospitals, terrorists behind every tree, plus massive food queues...and assorted other disasters. They don't say why, how, or how simply these things can be resolved because that doesn't get views/readers/retweets..or whatever else they need to boost advertising revenue.
If these flying toys are so dangerous....why are they sold.....
Mind you...the same could be asked of cigarettes...
The truth is, thousands of people have these things and use them for harmless fun. The mass panic caused by one little quad has caused such a froth and fury that anyone looking to disrupt an airport and get headlines now knows EXACTLY what htey have to do....and it's so easy and apparantly untraceable....
-
exactly Nitro bro I got to admit when I heard about the whole airport thing id already read there were selling shares off lol now there saying it could be an exemployer as they knew where all the cctv were so avoided the plice for so long but like you said goes to prove how much damage this drones can cause end of the day yeah there hobby toys can can be lethal in the wrong hands like any other hobby

Got no time nor inclination for RC at the moment. So why have I bought another truggy. Go figure.
-
Hi all - apologies for not being around if you needed me these last few days. Unavoidable, drop me a pm if you need to.
-
How to waste an evening - sell a bnib RC you decide you won't use - to someone who was told his brushed RC is brushless - and believed them. 2hrs of grief explaining RTR doesn't always inc lipos!
-
Does anyone know of a Database for Stolen / lost RC? I can't find one, and wonder if we should perhaps have one. I ask as I see a known toe rag selling / swapping stuff that seems beyond his means. Of course said toe rag could be legit but it got me thinking.

That's my thought - not to post pics of things that look stolen - but for owners to post pics of things that have been - or lost in the post etc.
ie Fred posts a pic of his YXL that he posted to a buyer. Buyer never received it, myherpes lost it during delivery.
Barry see's a yxl for sale locally - he's seen Fred's in the stolen thread and reports the seller to his local police.
All we'd be doing here is allowing people a place to post images of items they've had stolen, strict rules about the thread - inc no comments at all. Should someone maliciously claim they'd had something stolen then I;m sure the liability ends with them - freedom of speech etc.
The difficulty is proof of course - both in positive ID and that said toe rag might not have nicked an item, but if it IS the RC in question then the police recover it to the legitimate owner - the toe rag who bought a stolen RC loses out - but he has the chance to point the police to the person he acquired it from if he's totally legitimate himself.

I can't see it being any more useful than people doing what they do now which is post some pictures and info up if they are unlucky enough to have something pinched or lost in transit somewhere.
As per my original reply, it would still become more open to people trying to pull the wool over and/or owners getting there cars back and thinking they are the thieves.
Probably best left the way it is.
