Layer Cake is one of my favourite films. ‘Welcome to the Layer Cake Son!’

  2. They are deeply suspicious of Tiny Rick.
  3. That's a ridiculous price. My goodness! That's only £80 less than I paid for my Alfa Romeo!
  4. Wow, those are really impressive! They look WAY better than any RC bike I've ever seen. The suspension movement is semi-realistic, with some proper bump-absorption. Ever other RC bike I've seen actually looks like a toy, sort of ricocheting around.
  5. For those interested in the development of my old 190E 2.5-16, I've been frantically putting-in the weekends. Most of the work has not been cosmetic. However, the highlights include: - ditching those horrible alloys for some gorgeous, period-correct wheels. - ditching the horrible grill for the right one. - swapping back to orange indicators and side repeaters. - custom stainless exhaust system (sounds glorious!). - swapping springs to get the ride height sorted (still going to add 5mm, all-round). - full service. - coolant flush and change. - Greenstuffs performance air filter (panel). - interior work and fixes. - undoing the previous owner's sound system mess... and basically everything else they've done! Although I initially had buyer's remorse, I've fallen in love with it, not going to lie. Next major thing on the list is to have the damaged bodykit and bumper repaired, which includes having them painted body-coloured. Before and after (so far)...
  6. That's incredible! I really should learn more about space. It's so fascinating.
  7. Cheers. She seems solid. Hopefully, she can handle really well. I'm definitely not speed running mine. I guess the speed runner will rip the lights off! I much prefer a sorted touring car. Although, this will obviously be a Sports Car, in the endurance racing sense.
  8. 'lo, all. Had my Rlaarlo AK917 arrive! This was the special, pre-release price, which was about 50% off. I paid around £130, including postage. So, for roughly the price of a TT-01/TT-02, with an unpainted body, plastic bushings and pogo-sticks, I got a fully-sorted race-inspired roller, with: - adjustable suspension - big-bore, oil-filled, alloy-bodied, adjustable shock absorbers - full bearings - metal drivetrain - painted body, with light buckets and scale details - a kinda, sorta, Porsche 917K... ish - a car designed strong enough for 4s speed runs. Not bad! I went for the alloy roller (each version; roller, brushed RTR and brushless RTR have the alloy and carbon options). It's not nearly as trick, but it still looks very nice. Seems solid! I'm not taking part in the worldwide speed challenge. It's not really my thing. I'm going for a very fast, racing machine. I have a 4600Kv Castle system. With 2s it's quick. 3s will probably be nuts! I want to try it. First thing it needs, is FAT rear wheels/tyres! Those skinny little things are not 917-worthy!
  9. She's looking trick. The TT-series cars are humble, but they can be made to handle very well. This should be pretty sorted!
  10. Very nice. I was considering a C63 instead of the Cosworth, but decided that I had enough money to buy a C63, but not enough to own one!
  11. Yeah, just a bit! Thanks, yeah... she's going to be a stunner. I'm putting a lot into this project. Thank you. Yeah, I love these things. Always have. Well... I mean... as good as the Cosworth engine is, I'd have to be going some, to get a 2.5l 4-cylinder to go like the Judd V8 in that car!! I've been admiring that particular 190e, for many, many years.
  12. Here's my current, non-RC project. Working on this with my father and brother-in-law. 1991 Mercedes 190e 2.5-16 Cosworth. Picked it up a couple of weeks ago, from the south of Wales. She was originally registered in Northern Ireland, hence the reg number. One of my all-time favourite cars! This has been a decade coming. I cannot wait until she's finished! As a base, she's phenomenal. Fantastic bodywork and almost immaculate, underneath. Interior is great, save for a couple of points. Engine is very strong, with great oil pressure. However, I got her for well below the going rate, because there are/were a number of things WRONG: - She's too damn low. - The aftermarket wheels are horrible, multi-fitment rubbish and are not the correct style for the car. - The grill was wrong (pictured- now fixed). - The indicators and side-repeaters are clear, aftermarket items. They should be orange. - The exhaust (which is rubbish) hits the ground, because she's too damn low. - The glovebox door was not properly attached (fixed). - The sunroof mechanism was broken (mostly fixed- need one more part). - The bodykit is damaged underneath, because she's too damn low. - The rear, offside door needed rebuilt (fixed). - The rear bumper has some damage. - The rear seats were not secured (fixed). - There's a small crack next to the central dashboard vents. - The left-hand dial has been changed, for whatever reason. That means the vacuum-controlled "economy" gauge has been removed. I'd like to re-install one. - The aerial needs fixed/replaced- it should retract, fully. Also needed to de-chav her: - There were stickers on the windows (removed). - There were strips of fake carbon fibre on the door handles and mirrors (removed). - There was an AMG badge (she's a Cosworth, not an AMG... VERY, EXTREMELY removed)!! - Badly fitted stereo and CD multichanger (removed- normal CD player installed). - Badly fitted and installed audio crossovers (removed). - Badly fitted speakers (still to be addressed). We have also replaced the thermostat and oil pressure sender. I have everything I need to give her a full service (including spark plugs) and coolant flush, but we need to get her sitting a bit higher, so we can physically get underneath! She's too low for the jacks! I have the orange side-repeaters, but I'm waiting on the orange indicators. On the way are; - Indicators. - Some BEAUTIFUL, period-correct wheels. - Greenstuffs panel filter. - Springs that will allow the car to sit much better (she's not just too low, she's harsh over bumps and the rear camber is too extreme, as a result). - New exhaust system. - Bodykit and bumper to be repaired and painted.
  13. Sounds like an interesting project. Good luck with it!
  14. Gotta give a massive thank you to Tomley RC, for sending me a free RC truck!

    Thanks a lot!

  15. I'm afraid they're long gone... the woman got her hands on them. Typical! Thanks, man! Thank you!
  16. Got myself 7 wins out of 7, including the C-Final win, at the Scottish GT 12 Regionals Round 2. Stuck my car under the barrier in the final qualifying race and therefore missed the B Final by 3 seconds!
  17. Interesting. Completely opposite to what my Team Losi XXX-S manual used to say about setting up the car!
  18. A healthy racer's meal! FYI, standing the shocks upright makes the action slightly softer. Leaning them in is what you'd want to do, if you want to stiffen them up. Although, that slows down the initial reaction.
  19. That Merc shell makes me smile, just sitting on the tarmac and in the sun. Reminds me of a simpler time, when good weather, a basic touring car and a charged ni-cd/ni-mh were all you needed.
