  1. i sprayed WD40 2 days ago into my rc crawler motor as it had crust of dirt and dried up mud, i left the car dribbling for 2 days and today finally the car started to move as it had life now. When i pull the trigger i can sometimes see sparks and flames in the brushed 35t motor and bit of smoke which got me worried, would this be caused from the wd 40 which had been sprayed?

For the cost of a brushed motor, just replace it? Once it's smoking, there's not really any going back.

      Bajadre

agree with dan it would of soaked into the brushes by now and will wear alot faster

WD40 really has no business being in a brushed motor, for future reference. It doesn't clean up mud etc any more than pressured water. What it does do is leave behind oily residue that dirt loves to stick to.

If you wanna spray something into your can, use something like electrical contact cleaner.

If i were you i'd get a can (Halfords, around £4 if i recall correctly), flush the motor out with it (you need to get rid of the "oil"), and cross your fingers.

Just note that you need to lubricate bearings afterwards, if applicable.

Lot of folk raving about these batteries at the moment:

      https://chinahobbyline.com/

Word on the street is that these are the same as Graphene Panthers just under a different brand and a lot cheaper.

  4. can I use diff grease on my RC boat prop shaft or will I have to go with a marine grease?

    1. Bajadre

      Bajadre

i would imagine u would need a more waterproof marine grease Laz

"Technically marine grease has additives that make it hydrophobic (repels water). Standard grease is somewhat hydrophobic but not nearly as good as marine grease and standard grease will mix much more readily with water. ... Marine grease is much more resistant to this mixing."

    2. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

It needs to be marine grease and don't overdo it, a little and often is much better than packing loads in and not changing it for months.

  5. where can i get various sizes of screws and various sizes of shims for my models? i'm currently working on my 1/12th scale chassis and i need shims/spacers for diffs and thing long philips screws for my axles.

I`m sorry to say at the moment i wont buy from MS, they need to address the postage and reply to emails a bit faster than 3 day also i seem to end up with faulty items from them, this is just bad luck but i always end up with the return costs

I ordered my scout from a different shop I know ms do price matching but I just couldn't be bothered with the faf so saved a fiver and got free next day delivery from the other place.

I don’t think they’re doing price matching at the moment. I’ve never had an issue so will continue to use them.

Keep one or two running and tinker with the rest. Excluding bare chassis I think I've got about 10 on the go now, at least 5 of those I can pick up and run.

  9. just noticed whilst having fun with my RC the front shocks on my Kyosho Outlaw Rampage doesn't rebound as much as my rear shocks on it. I changed the position of the rear shocks slightly yesterday evening when rebuilding them, i wonder if that's the reason why it affected the front shocks? 🤔

  10. Rubber sealed ball bearings or ceramic bearings for my crawler?

I need to sort out the bearings but which will last better and not seize up as i run my Carisma crawler rc in mud and bit of water ..

    2. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

Just get some rubber shield from RCbearing.co.uk, they last a good amount of time anyway as they aren't subject to the same heat and friction as a fast RC.

  11. took my Carisma Range Rover for crawl and trail, i love the way the body looks especially when it's climbing steep ground and the way the suspensions articulate under pressure and those stock tyres man they are surely awesome :D

Shall i go for rubber sealed ball bearings or ceramic bearings?

I tend to run my Carisma Range Rover in thick muds and through a bit of water too around ponds in Epping

  12. can some one tell me why on earth is my left front shock leaking out of no reason, it was fine up until i decided to open the shock see if it was good, since opening the shock cap no matter what there is a tiny leak occuring from the cap bit where the threading 😭

these are plastic shocks by the way on my Kyoso Outlaw Rampage, some one help me 😢

      lazkopat

it is operating smoothly, what i don't understand is that i did at leat 10 runs with my new Kyosho truck, and recently i noticed the front shock leaking, the shocks are made out of plastic. could it be the case of a crack on the shock forcing oil out from the cap bit?

    3. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

Sorry I may have misunderstood, it sounded like it was working fine and you took the cap off to check it for some reason?

It was leaking before you removed the cap?

If so, then I'd hazard a guess at damage yes.

Or if it uses a bladder/seal, then perhaps a rebuild kit is needed.

    4. lazkopat

      lazkopat

there might a damage to it some where but i cant seen any visible damage, this is most baffling shock problem i've encountered throughout my rc history 🤣

i think it started to show a display of leak after a side impact from a concrete garden object. it just dosent add up as the shock looks mint as the truck is still fresh and the truck has been used a handful times until now, I will get metal shocks for the truck..

  13. Guys, i've rebuilt my Savage X 4.6 after long time storage, fired it up today :D  I had notice tiny little bubbles appearing in the fuel line, there only tiny, should i be worried about these or is it normal to have tiny bubbles in a nitro engine ???

  14. i'VE burnt my esc for my SC truck, it was a orion waterproof 45amp esc as my truck hit the wall and smoked the esc, i'm likely to get replacement as i really like this esc but is there any other similar replacements? the orion esc retails at about 20/25£

  15. How much would a DBXL roller in very clean good condition with the diffs built freshly and drive cups replaced and comes with FLM centre shafts for front and rear be worth folks?

it has has a bag of few stock spares i.e. Shocktowers, radio tray and bits.

plus the roller has 5t shocks installed

      Oh How Original

Depends entirely on the buyer, they may not see value in the new shocks and other stuff, FLM can be a bit hit and miss on quality, some is good, some not so good, so that may also factor into someones decision.

Losi 5t? Aren't they so similar to each other.

There's a losi 5t roller on ebay looks fairly tidy and its  it's a  bid auction. £300 something atm . Has 30° body tho.

    2. lazkopat

      lazkopat

Buying 2nd hand is always a gamble mate, I'd rather sell DBXL and put money on top to buy new 5t instead

  21. AJ how much would a second hand DBXL be worth? The parts are all stock except for the Losi 5T shocks...

  22. Does anyone run a lipo regulator or something for the lipo receiver pack on their 5th scales for the servos ?

  23. I'm telling all you people out there, once you get a 1/5th scale petrol RC there's no way you would go back to your 1/8th scale nitro buggy or truggy. No way!!

I've had petrol 1/5ths. Loved them while racing but when the track closed I moved back to 1/8th as I didn't find them fun as a basher. Had loads of brushless but recently got the nitro bug back and converted my Savage :D  As said, each to there own. Enjoy :good:
