  1. stilla work in progress but almost done. that is what a xxt looks like with inverted hyper mini st arms on the back and all the hyper mini shocks, on a flux shot 4300kv motor, think it is the stock motor etc for the hpi bullet, goes sweet on 2s on the xxt,. it lives again and goes stupidly fast and can skid brake instantly on 2s, im still on the look out for any thing that can fit it, but for the moment it is going sweet , i know the back wheels are in more than the front still handles awesome cart wheels the best i have ever seen broke the spoiler and a metal rod for a supsension arm i had to hack saw a new one the original motor and esc is in my bandit and the bandits original xl 5 is in my sand viper, it is awesome how stuff can just filter down
  2. dont worry pie man the blue shell is still immaculate, stormbringer bought it from u and i went havers on it, we sorted out the wonkey front wobbly wheel and the suspension is a lot more stable now, got hyper 7 shocks on the back and thunder tiger xxt shocks on the front, handles like a dream now with the same esc and motor when we first got it it was stupid mental, kept popping off steering links etc and insanely fast in a straight line, we soon realised it was set up for a straight line speed run lol don't worry im making it into basher, but that shell is awesome, so i bash the other one all good we have been looking after it pie man can also get some better pics if ya want at the moment it is going about same speed as dads hyper vs 4s, dads hyper beats it on grass a tad but think the rustler has it on tarmac slightly
  3. the boat in the back ground has 3 heavy nimh packs, think 3 2700 mah packs, act as ballast though and a tiny slow motor on my dx6 it can sail all day long
  4. put both my sandviper and my tt-01 onto my speccy dx3c earlier, im done with my old etronix one, dad has been updating his receivers for his new speccy and giving me the old dsm2 ones think all my leccy cars apart from drifter are on my dx3c now, just need to find 2 more and put them in the ishima rave and the hyper 7 i could use my xxt/xxb tx and 3 rx units on the nitros put some nice yellow bright wheels on my tt-01 earlier, they look awesome https://www.modelsport.co.uk/fastrax-1-10-street-tread-tyre-10-spoke-neon-yellow-wheels/rc-car-products/393449 the grasshopper next to my tt-01 has some mental run time and digs up my parents garden with its stock sand paddle tyres, it is amazing what a hopper can do when a 4000mah battery can last over an hour easy
  5. don't do it, i have previous experiance of putting a brushless in a maverick atom (your ones direct predecessor) from all my experience of that, the little plastic gears on the end of your centre drive shaft will get chewed up massively and repeatedly, i gave up on it as i was chewing so many diff input gears. i had a 2200 mah 2s lipo soft pack velcroed in after making slots in the bottom of the chassis for the velcro to slip through. had this esc and motor https://www.amainhobbies.com/losi-1-18-xcelorin-brushless-esc-motor-combo-6000kv-losb9560/p24233 had a high torq micro savox metal gear servo for steering used what ever full size 2.4ghz receiver i had kicking about at the time it was amazing fun when it was working, it would spin on the spot and go stupidly fast, the only down side was the differential input gears, car itself handled it pretty well and never broke much, it was fun, would i do it again? just no
  6. i hear the steering servo might be a bit weak but every thing else sounds good about it, we should of had it last week but got delayed, dad is itching to get his hands on it lol
  7. i broke the tamiya servo saver i had on my brushed triton in a impact with dads brushless one, so had to fix that, all good now also had my tamiya sand viper out on it's 17 turn motor and a 2s lipo, thanks to no oil left in the shocks it was very bouncy and i done 1 cart wheel too much, ended up snapping the back suspension tower, oh well that tower was about 10 year old, about time it broke i had it fixed pretty fast, got a spare dt-02 sand viper kit for 80 quid years ago and it has paid for it self tbh, use so many random parts and screws in other models
  8. for the sandviper im running mine on a bandit xl5 esc with stock gearing and a 2s lipo on a 17 turn brushed motor and it goes like the clappers, got one of these speed controllers in my tamiya tt-01 also on 2s and a 17 turn brushed motor https://www.modelsport.co.uk/modelsport-uk-sniper-rv-12-assault/rc-car-products/37403 whack one of them in ur viper with a 17 or even 21 turn motor, so many models but the viper is one of my favourite ones i would reccomend a traxxas bandit or rustler xl-5 but they come rtr so i can't although they fit all other requirements oh edit: i replaced my back sand viper wheels recently and they are a bit smaller than standard 10 scale wheels, got some cheapo fast trax ones and they are bigger which gives a wee bit more clearance and slightly higher geared. one idea would be buy a sand viper kit that way you get a fully ball raced viper and oil filled shocks plus tons of spares, if you use the pre built one for spares, just an idea as i bought a second kit for cheap years ago for spares but not had to use many
  9. i wouldn't touch mini ftx ones tbh, got a 12 scale surge and it always breaks with out even crashing and dad has the monster truck one which is now stripped down for spares for my buggy one, they are made of cheese and i do not imagine a smaller scale one like the comet would be any better got one of these on order for dads birthday, then it got delayed so we havent tried it out yet as were still waiting on it to come back in stock https://www.modelsport.co.uk/absima-hurricane-1-18-4wd-high-speed-truggy-2-4ghz-green/rc-car-products/442301
  10. going to brushless would require a new brushless esc and motor and probably a new pinion gear, then you would have the hassle of setting up the brushless esc etc just a simple thought, can you see any thing like a little pebble between the spur and pinion gear? just bascially any thing that could be jamming it? edit : just had a look at a pic of a bare chassis, on the bottom of your car near the back, can you see like a wee slit and just inside is there a gear you can see? if so it is easy for small bits of debris to get in and jam it, does that gear turn when u try to move it? this link may be of use https://www.ftx-rc.com/image/data/FTX5527/files/FTX Vantage Manual.pdf it has exploded views of all the parts :)
  11. grab a tamiya sandviper kit and then go lol at how awesome it is before you start modding it got mine on stock gearing with a 17 turn brushed motor and a xl5 esc from my bandit, really good platform on 2s, only thing that broke it was a nitro savage running it over, not broke a thing since https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-sand-viper-dt-02-/rc-car-products/25688
  12. would you accept a montage pic of every model next to each other? only our ground ones as the garden might just be big enough for that
  13. i had a problem like that before on a thunder tiger drifter, it appeared to work then next time i turned it on had the same sort of hassle, was lucky it was a local hobby store, my esc was knackered out the box and i fear yours might be too i am super gutted for you and ur son edit: is there a hint of noise or vibration or heat coming of the motor? edit 2 : i recently built a grass hopper and the motor was unresponsive, even on a 2nd esc, took it out wiggled it shook it and turned the shaft about a bit and its been running flawlessly for hours and hours, just suddenly came back to life.
  14. cheers for the info that is good to know, hobby king done similar to me, first and only time i bought from them, also got stung for customs when i selected the euro warehouse

    This is why

what shares my thunder tiger xxt and xxb hub carriers? all i can find is some ta parts that look identical for bulk heads etc the pro lite 4x4 or something, not happy how thunder tiger ditch older good models, the xxb was 250 quid and the xxt was 250 quid and my drifter was 189 quid, parts are too hard to find now yet my older models have parts still available. i was invested in thunder tiger and now im shafted, i would never reccomend tt ever again
  16. put a back brace on my tt-01, part of A part spruce's that came earlier, then put on a blue ariel tube and took it out with dads one, a tiny stone flipped it and snapped a part that holds the rear body mount post. ran it a bit more then took it in and discovered one of the sprues has the part that broke, all fixed and awesome timing and new neon yellow wheels have shipped for it, they should stick out well on the dark blue metallic body paint, which is also good timing as my current tyres are knackered tweaked my thunder tiger xxt a bit more earlier, it has the shocks from a hyper mini st and the arms, and carrier hubs on the back so part hyper, it ran better than last time. had shafts that were a bit wobbly for supsension arms, put a few strands of wire through the supsension arms then put in the shafts again, with a bit soft rubber on each end and voila nice tight fit, had a full 5000 mah 2s through it on a 4300kv motor earlier, and had the most insane cart wheel i have ever seen thanks to dads brushless triton , nothing broke
  17. i have the old hyper 7 black and the .21 3 port engine, had nothing but problems with it to start with although i think it is just defective. it eats glow plugs rapid and destroys pull starts even when going slow, the pull start would just spring out with its case while running. ditched the pull start for a starter box and much better but it still eats glow plugs, if i recall os 8 ones among many while on the other hand the .21 engine in dads hyper 7 tq doesn't have any of they problems and either does his hyper st truck not tried it for a few years and i took it apart and really flushed it years ago, i need to test it again, it goes rapid and starts easy and idles like a pro but the cost of glow plugs was getting a bit much if i recall
  18. yeh it is starting to look that way did get a full battery through it earlier with my bodge job, it goes like the clappers
  19. get the brushless triton it is stupidly over powered and even the brushed one is over specced for the money, i have fun with my brushed one on 2s but after seeing and having a shot of dads brushless one also on 2s it is completely insane and makes my brushed one look like it is sitting there at full throttle. night and day between brushed or brushless tritons on same 2s batteries i changed my servo saver on my brushed one to a tamiya one and got tighter more consistant cornering plus used tamiya soft shock oil on the front, helps either turn better
  20. well i have it running, not perfect but im getting there, the engine on our hyper st mini is seized up so i stole the back arms of it along with the hubs and drive shafts. i also took all 4 shocks from the hyper mini st and had to reverse the back supsension arms and hacksaw some poles to the correct length. after i done all that i discovered a team associtead model has similar parts, got 2 hub carriers on order i will see if they work. i tried it on a 17 turn motor to first test it, all good but slow, now it has the brushless 4300kv system back in it, almost good and very fast, gotta sort out the kinks but it lives again now i remember why i like the thunder tigers so much, super grippy even with bald tyres, also able to handle stupid power, the motor i have in it is 1000 kv more than the stock one but on 2s it is a nice middle ground between the original motor on 3s and 2s not a single attempt of wheelies, just glued to the ground
  21. im impressed with how durable my tt-01 is and it handles pretty well, fully ball raced with different shocks and the metal prop shaft is all i done to it, i dont do racing though just general bashing. i have an ftx surge and it is weak very weak im forever breaking parts without even crashing it, i would go for the tt-02 for a fun cheap option with room for upgrades
  22. hey guys and lassies im doing my nut in trying to find spares for my thunder tiger xxb and xxt. i need a rear hub carrier but can't seem to source one and the front shock tower, also got the sparrowhawk drifter as well but thankfully i havent used it much so it is undamaged for the moment. any ideas to any other models that have compatible parts? as my sparrowhawks are discontinued edit: at the moment i have hyper mini st arms on the back along with the hubs and shocks, its not working out well, because of the angle of the shafts, gonna mess about with it more and see what i can get but im not raising my hopes really annoys me that a 250 quid model is made redundant so easy, one hub carrier.....
  23. welcome and as alex says making parts metal can just move the shock along to the next weakest point
  24. welcome and we don't bite much
