Tamiya Porsche 934 Turbo RSR Vaillant (White Version)

47477 Porsche 934 Turbo RSR Vaillant (White Version)* (TA02SW chassis)

Another Porsche 934 to commemorate 45th year of Tamiya and RC

    Unofficial pics at the moment.

Basically, a re-release of the 40th Anniversary version with a different paintjob.

One issue with 40th version was the 6mm difference on the wheelbase beteween the shell and the chassis - This was fixable by chopping the suspension arms about and adding spacers

Tamiya might have sorted it for this release but, as far as I can remember, the issue on the 40th was never officially addressed with replacement parts etc.

    Man, that's pretty!!

But that 6mm difference is really poor! Here's hoping it's fixed.

    Here's one way to address the 230/236 issue;

    https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=129718&id=9813

Last time round, there was also someone selling custom chassis plates which spaced the gearboxes correctly, but that then made the centre driveshaft too long - The fix for that was either mod the centre shaft or the front and rear drive cups.

A couple of owners have designed and printed out replacement arms too, file on page 2

Shame Tamiya doesn’t do something extra special for an Anniversary. This one has been out one too many times, including the Tamico edition…

47477 Porsche 934 RSR Turbo 1976 Vaillant (White Version) 45th Anniversary (TA02SW chassis)
    Of special note:
    • Model specific packaging with blister packs.
    • Photo-etched plaque.
    • Printed commemorative message for the 45th anniversary of Tamiya RC cars by executive chairman Shunsaku Tamiya.

    Basic specification:
    • Length: 435mm
    • Width: 202mm
    • Chassis wheelbase: 236mm
    • Body wheelbase: 230mm
    • Full ball bearings (6x 850, 12x 1150, 2x 1260, 2x 1510)
    • CVA II dampers
    • BBS style 2-piece mesh wheels
    • Wide rear tires

    Included Hop-Up parts:
    • Aluminium motor mount
    • Hard propeller shaft
    • Front and rear assembly type universal drive shafts
    • FRP double-deck frame
    • FRP damper stays

The above is from Mokei Kagaku - not sure if the specs for the body/chassis wheelbase are sarcasm or fact, but would be strange for a company to document an error.
Having said that, can't see too many of them being built if they've gone to the trouble of special packaging for this version over its predecessors.
