Moving on For the non believers the Max5 fits fine with a bit of persuasion It needs finishing off but it's in there2 points

I'm still waiting for the body to be completed before I start hammering, and there again, I won't be going too hard for long - I'm too impatient. I'd probably take a few rigs somewhere - park or something - then blast up and down for perhaps 5-10 minutes - then that's me done. 5Ah is more than enough for me - it'll probably be somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes all in, obviously depending on terrain and how angry I am!! If I want to blast for an hour, I'll just get the big petrol truck out, and I'm happy! It does attract a bit of attention, but it's great fun. 2WD and 18 kg. Al.2 points

A pic of the basic rear bed, this still needs lots of detail parts added, like the tie down hooks etc.2 points

Not too much progress to report. I've made more progress on the front cab and made the basic frame of the rear bed. The good news is I have all my electrics now, I've just to decide how to install everything. I was planning to install most of the electrics into the rear section of the front cab but this would make it a pain for maintenance. So now I'm thinking of just install the electrics as intended on the chassis. Here's a few more pic of my progress: I've been using EMA Plastic Weld to glue the body, it sets quick and seems to be a strong bond: The front cab, I used masking tape to hold the basic structure together: I'll be using a Hobbywing 1080 esc & Yeah Racing 45t brushed motor: The front grill & badge put into place: The front fenders into place: Test fitting electrics in the front cab but decided against this: The servo I'll be using to change 2 speed transmission: Basic layout of electrics. Once I'm happy with the general layout, I'll be wrapping the wires in black sheath: That's it for now2 points

I've been playing around with my electrics install, still undecided. This is just a rough layout so far:2 points

I had a 405 mi16, car was crap, engine was sublime, especially when dropped into a 205 gti, proper pocket rocket.2 points

It maybe old but it works and it works well the savage has been and will always be a good seller, theres plenty of folk that will walk into a shop see this and buy it over say the X Maxx imo Whats ridiculous about buying a tried and tested truck ? Dont just right it off because its old Im not really a savage fan to be honest myself but its great to see this hit the market again and i hope it sells like hot cakes as that in turn will create profit and may lead to investment into an X rival Way to go ripmax i say keep them coming2 points

Gone midnight and i'm still up spraying body panels for the Wraith. Just too impatient for my own good!2 points

I also have a Decaperm 12v, 8500 RPM, 5-pole with built in 2.75:1 gearbox motor for sale, in good condition, wires may want re-soldering, but the motor does work, it turns smooth, doesn't grind etc... Based on them retailing at £140, I'd like £55 posted for this.1 point

It looks like the shell is only going to be avaliable in Clear and will require painting. Part #36601 point

I know most of us probably do our own RC maintenance, but I thought I'd take the opportunity while switching from standard AR60 axle, to an SSD extended axle, to video the process and show those who aren't so confident, that it's not hard and you gain experience, it can also be fun. Just to be clear, in case you don't check the video description, I put the diff in backwards on purpose, I was meant to talk about how easy it is to lose track when you've flipped your RC over and something to watch out for, unfortunately, I completely forgot to talk about it! I'm only 6 away from 150 subscribers now, which I set as a goal, I'd really really appreciate it if you'd hit the subscribe button and even like/share my content!1 point

Glad to see it back but those wheel nuts, really! Shame on you hpi for being so cheap and lazy. A few extra pounds spent in production could have meant so much. And the shell could have done with some thought at least.1 point

I could be in that category as seem to have a few Savages still and dont follow latest trends for stupid power where it self destructs and not usable. Bigger isnt always better. Usable power better than more power.1 point

That's precisely the stuff I bought for my X-Maxx. Body's still in paint. Plan was to tape, Shoo Goo, then also spray the inside - make as 'super-tough' as possible. Can't answer - yet - but great minds .... Al.1 point

Those mardaves bring back some very happy memories. I used to run one one of the old mini stocks with the red bumper and I used to run an old mardave 1/8 hot rod too. So much fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

HPI to me were like Tamiya Models to the older folk. The older folk looked in Beaties and in the Tamiya Catalogue wanting everything. I did the same looking through the HPI catalogue dreaming of one day having a HPI Proceed that did 70mph! I had a HPI Sport 1 RS4 at the time and went on to have a multitude of HPI models. Im a big fan of HPI and was gutted when they ran into financial problems. However, if all theyve got to offer is an archaic Savage and some Q32 toys then maybe they should just stay gone...1 point

I anticipated this exact reply.... Yet aren't Traxxas doing something about the Xmaxx for example, adding the fuse wire (lol) initially within a few months of release? Now we have an 8S upgrade pack within the year. The Savage has been around one and half decades and HPI havent addressed ANY of it....1 point

Its not tried and tested. It still has the ridiculously weak rear hubs, which were CLEARY a cost saving exercise 16 years ago so they could run the same hubs on all 4 corners. It STILL has the poor slipper clutch that is no where near ready for Brushless power. It STILL has those pathetic excuse for 17mm hubs with a WASHER to hold the wheel on (a part HPI actually makr already, just put it on for gods sake!) it doesnt have the XL axles which again HPI already make.I bet the TVPs are still 3mm too which is far too weak and I also bet it still has the weak non HD idler gear..... So no, youre not buying a Tried and Tested model, youre buying a flawwed model from a company that has had over a decade to rectify. This will NEED £100+ spending on it asap. If this came out with a revised slipper clutch/rear hubs/thicker tvps and a few option parts included (HD gear, proper 17mm hubs and the XL axles) id have probably ordered it...1 point

No one with sense surely! Its far too old and late for this now unfortunately. I am a HUGE Savage fan, but entering the market for one now is, in my opinion a ridiculous idea. The best news about this is hopefully people who already have Savages will get a new lease of support in terms of spare parts.1 point
