  1. ...oh and I’ve checked the lipo cell voltage and it’s always healthy so not a cutoff issue. Last time I tried it was fully charged. And I’ve tried three different lipos that run fine in other cars.
  2. I convinced my brother in law to get into the hobby and got him going with an absima unassembled kit (he wanted to build) and advised him on some entry level brushed electronics. Having built it all he found that the car went into limp mode after a few minutes. Switch off and on and it’s fine. Then same thing again after a few mins driving. Motor feels hot but not anything I’d usually be concerned about. Now I know there are lots of posts about his being an issue with the Hobbywing 1060 - which he has - but he has swapped this for a replacement with no change and then swapped it for one of mine (completely different make and model with much bigger amp limit) with no change. We have even tried the capacitor fix other have had success with but it’s still doing it. So, fairly sure it isn’t an ESC issue, this weekend I tried swapping other components out. Different motor (less powerful), different lipo, different servo, different radio even and still the same problem. What am I missing here?? The pinion and spur are the ones supplied with the kit, mesh seems ok (I’ve reset it three time in case this was causing excessive resistance). I’ve checked all the diffs etc and it’s seems to be running ok. Quite loud but ok. Please help me avoid the embarrassment of having to apologise for getting him to waste his money!!
  3. Is 1/8 still the most popular? (And the most expensive!?)
  4. Ok, I'll get looking. I am still tempted for return to 1/8 but the costs are considerably more! What are the most popular classe at the moment? Has SC taken off?
  5. So I'm thinking of coming back into the hobby having been distracted by drones and planes for a while. I have run pretty much everything in the past and had most recently settled on 1/8 electric buggies. I started to attend NDOR but ran out of time to do so in the end. Now I have some more time I'm thinking of starting up again, possibly at CMCC this time. However, I'm toying with the idea of 1/10 off-road to keep the cost of batteries down. Thing is I have no idea what is a popular entry level club race buggy. Everything seems so expensive now!? Help appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm looking for some different lights to put on my nighthawk but can't find anything with the right connector for the power output sockets on the board. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Having some problems uploading photos. It's literally a picture of the GPS antenna and a broken 6 pin cable.
  8. My brother-in-law had one of these for his birthday but has quickly found the ground unfortunately. He has snapped off the GPS antenna and broke the signal cable to the control unit. Thing is the GPS unit is absolutely fine so it seems excessive to pay £40 for the antenna just to get the cable. Can you buy these cables anywhere? It's a six pin. I don't know anything about drones (I'm a car and plane man atm) so can't help him. Ron
  9. Thanks. Straight forward. Yes the tray is too short for the turnigy hard case packs over 4500mah. It may be a different tray as it's the 8ight-e rtr.
  10. The turnigy batteries are too long unfortunately (I already made that error) the Losi tray is quite short. A reasonable price is the same or less that the cost of two 60c 5800mah 2s nano tech batteries (less than £25 each!). im currently running overland we sport 4s's which are £65 and not much good. I've gone through two of them already.
  11. I have a Losi 8ight-e and have rapidly found out that 4s Lipo's (at a reasonable price) are like rocking horse ****. So I plan on buying 2s's and running them in series (right?) instead. quesrion I have is the best way to connect them up. I'm looking at the nanotech hard case batteries from hobbyking which have removable bullet connectors. Could I therefore just use one of the cables and make up a link lead (+ to - right?). Help appreciated.
  12. The 8ight platform is really good. Ive had more rc cars over the years than I care to remember and the 8ight is a really well put together car. I currently have two nitro 8ights and am just waiting for my 8ight-E rtr to arrive. Looks like ill need to swap out the standard servo and then it'll be good to go! Get yourself on hobbyking for some Turnigy batteries and you're race ready for under
  13. I just don't understand why all the part numbers are the same on the exploded diagram?
  14. Beginning to feel quite lonely on here! About the third post I've put on with no replies. Must be stupid questions.
  15. Having just bought a RTR, I downloaded both the kit and RTR exploded views to see what was different. Now there is something wrong here as the only part numbers different in the manuals are the shock caps and cups. I know there are many more differences than this and it got me wondering how it works. Can you basically only buy the race kit parts for the RTR so basically upgrades each time?
