  3. Having set the wee one up with an old TL01 for his Birthday I found myself itching for something to knock around with him (My Savage is out of action atm). Due to bumping the 1:1 funds we're a little tight, and whilst looking around for a good used motor I fell on a new Himoto (brushed) for a price that was too good to turn down. It duly arrived yesterday and after checking her over took it out for a blast on the street today. Some initial thoughts below: Positives: Faster than the TL01 with stock silver can + MSC. Whilst the TL01 has had some hammer it seems to run almost as well as I remember stock Tami TC did in my youth, yet the Himoto was a good deal faster. Build - nothing to adjust - all screws nice and tight, lock nuts done up etc. No binding anywhere, steering and suspension positive. Electrics - we'll see how long they last but all's good so far - motor runs well, steering servo quick and plenty strong enough for the job. Not so positives Quite a bit of play around the truck, particularly the front end - will prob try some shims. Shell is fugly. Plastics are painfully thin, especially the chassis. We'll see where she starts to show stress marks / crack first and reinforce the replacement accordingly. Shocks are very very soft, thankfully combined with the less than grippy tyres I don't think It'll roll over on level ground... That's about it, bearing in mind I've only run 3 packs through. Nothing in the above was unexpected having read reviews and other's thoughts, and overall I'm fairly impressed. Seems a good buy for it's money and prob ideal if a new budget off road RC is what your looking for, even for a younger child. Some stationary pics below, inc with an old Savage shell I bodged to fit.

  4. Hi all, My dad usually paints shells but today i got my schumacher sv2 bodyshell though the post and thought i would attempt to paint it myself. Now i just need to take delivery of the car to put the body on lol Here are the results (the car looks pink in the pics but is red in real life) Yes it is a very simple design and the paint did bleed a bit but its my first attempt at painting Thanks for looking

  9. Progress at last Radio box sorted, rx, killer rc killswitch, buzzer, led on the top shelf plus a killer lipo. Have run the kill switch wire below the battery and a rubber grommet where the lead from the engine will enter. Savox servo horns, washers in blue. Red switch will make the rx and servos live, green for lights. Both are independent so I can have the lights on without servo buzz and rx on etc. Internals, have kept the split feed for lights in the lid so that I only have 2 wires to connect, the battery and the switch lead into the rx port. And I like lights lol,

  14. I'm not sure if a nitro converted 3 is the same as a 3e. It might be or the 3e could be a dedicated e buggy. I don't know enough about losi. I will say the 3 seems head and shoulders better than the 2 from what I've seen at our track. There must be a good reason why the 3 has dropped in price so much. Maybe a 3eu soon? I've had an sworkz. Very capable buggys in the right hands. A word of warning tho, I'm a very average club racer and it didn't work for me. I sold it on to our club champion and after 6 months of trying everything with it he also gave up and sold it on. You need to be a very talented aggressive drive to get the best from it. Sworkz have a great marketing policy where they have given lots of buggys away to very good drivers who get results. Mugs like me think it'll make me faster and spend money on it! I'd try before you buy if you can. Bmm are a great place to get spares for them but they'll sell you one just to get your money! I know a kit is a massive outlay and you want to get it right first time! Everyone will give you different advice. For what it's worth, I've had my mugen mbx6 Eco 2 years and loved it. I just bought a mbx7 Eco and did my first race with it on Sunday. Looks to be even better than my 6! Happy days, I love mugen!

  15. Thanks QRC & behappy. IT'S RUNNING!!!! Replacement servo made all the difference, given it a little spin and now need to adjust the high & low speed needles, very sluggish acceleration and low top speed. For anyone interested I think I've found a good tuning guide http://radiocontrol.wikia.com/wiki/Nitro_engine_tuning (Edit- also just found one on here pinned in 'General - Nitro') Whilst running it I discovered the brake wasn't working, I've adjusted it so just need to test it. Thankfully I didn't find out in the same way I did with my Rustler, it hit a curb at full speed on my first run, big oops! (about

  18. its doesnt necessarily make it faster it all depends on the nimh batteries you are using as a good quality nimh pack can have a higher discharge rate then some lipos. what you will get is is a more constant power out put as the discharge rate on lipo doesnt drop until right at the end, where as nimh usually drop off a lot quicker. again some lipos dont necessarily make your run time longer as this is dependent of the condition of your batteries and the mah rating as 5000mah nimh will clearly out last a 3000 mah lipo. the lipo brick type packs will fit into a tt01 but you will have to remove the strengthening rib ont he battery try which in standard form allow for stick packs to be used, but if you carefully remove these then like i do run 5000 lipo packs and it will last ages and fit real nice.

  20. Only other lipos I got are TRX plugs for the revo So will change Halix plug to deans, get hard case lipo with deans and in the mean time take out the 4.6 Trophy to annoy some of the local BMX kids. Let you know how I go once I get a chance to run it.

  21. a lipo will make it faster and give you longer runtimes. the only thing iam unsure on though will the lipo fit in the nimh battery tray as there a different shape though you can get lipo`s the same shape as nimh

  33. damn this heat....I can't deal with it...and today, neither could my welder! I have a bit of grinding off to do after the power supply got too hot and started to pack up. Not the welding current...the secondary supply for the wire feed. Had to leave it to cool down. Still made some progress though Actually don;t have a lot more to do. Started by lining up where the rear section would sit. I wanted the cage to line up with the rear section of stock rollcage using the 10mm ID tubes from the rollcage mod already in place. Makes the back half easy to pop off, and means the engine can come out the back if I need to remove it. Gentle bends in two tubes, and they slotted in to the tubes nicely. Then I could tack them in place and remove all the melty plastic bits! I've also welded in the front bars and a cross section for show. I found some quite narrow tubing which looks a treat in there. The rollbar sections have been properly welded up, and the roof braces tacked in. I have also done one side of the floor bracing. The other is still to do. two braces support the rear section from either side. I didn't go mad here, as I wanted the pullstart unobstructed. There will be a cross brace across the two top rear bars where the plug sits, plus some extra tubes welded in to cross brace the sides. My fuel tank has arrived, along with a plug in closable filler cap for the fuel pump. Neat! Also here is a hyper ST radio box, battery tray and servo tray set for the princely sum of

  34. Had first half pack on Tarmac then felt motor and wasn't even warm as I could put my lip on it then second half tested on grass at side of my house and once lipo run flat tested again and again could put my bottom lip on the motor no problems Don't ask why I used my lip but it just seemed like it was a sensitive part to use no Noj I wasn't putting any other sticky out body part on it to test missus wants another baby
