Hello Folks, I was talking to a collegue at work today about RC and he mentioned that literally next door to where I work is a Tamiya Distributor. I decided to pop along and see if i could buy directly from them rather than go through a model shop and save myself a few notes on future purchases. They said they don't sell to the public however I am in a position to create a purchasing account where i work and buy direct from them. I might need to do a little sweet talking with the boss but it seems possible. Any way, I asked for a catalogue which they apparently normally charge for but they said as I'm a neighbour I could have it for free. This is the magazine they provided me. http://www.stellamodels.com.hk/64372-tamiya-line-vol1-2012-english-p-6020.html Something that was really cool about it though is the book inside that list every tamiya product currently available and shows what parts are cross compatible with other models. This ranges from chassis to screw sets. May prove very useful in the future. So yeah, unlike most of my lunches this one was actually quite productive.3 points

No batteries required but does need the odd top up, prefers fish or chicken. Goes very well though sometimes loses control in the presence of rodents or birds.2 points

I'm 17 and I work hard for my money, I get up at 5am on saturdays and work through til 4pm running a market stall in London, I also clean an accountants once a week and do all sorts of odd jobs from welding to clearing gardens and also the odd bit of work on 1/1 cars etc I also repair old things and sell them on. I genuinely dislike it when people have everything handed to them on a plate! Teaches you nothing about life and the 'real' world. My parents don't give me any money and I have to do jobs around the house every day and what little money I earn from my few jobs I have to budget and save, if I don't do that I go without money. And I'm in sixth form so I'm also studying for exams Greg2 points

What i have notice is a could do with some preload on the shocks or fit a twin shocks on it. Don't really know what is best to do Any one run the twin shock on the flux 5t or do you run more preload?1 point

I used to sell (and I swear this is true) stick insect eggs at school. Also conkers. Quite an entrepreneur. Not sure I'd have made enough for an RC car though!1 point

You really need to start listening to people with some experience in this dude... you mention plastic alone as if its an actual material, you do realise plastic is just a name for a synthetic material made from polymers that can be moulded, and there are only certain types that lend themselves to being vacuum formed!1 point

Yes because they don't have any stored air under pressure. They work like a tyre inflator that just gives a little flow until the pressure builds up in the tyre.1 point

How much are new tyres going to set you back mate? You've got a mrs now mate, say goodbye to car mods trust me!!1 point

For throttle, have you considered a savox? 1256 or 1258? They are 55 from modelsport1 point

I'm hoping people get back to me about the Ace 1015 that I posted, if so then I'll buy one for the throttle, it's about1 point

Buying and selling is definatley the main source of income for me and my RCs. As much as going to car bootsales might not be the most glamourous thing to do, you can pretty much guarantee finding at least one thing you can make some money on every week. I'm also lucky in that my dad is self employed, so most weekends now I spend serving punters. Not that bad but 10am to midnight on your feet isn't the best way to spend a Saturday night when all your mates are out partying. I also like to make parts every now and again and tinker with 1:1s during winter when the car bootsales are closed The most important thing I can say is to not expect your parents to wait on you hand and foot, earn your own money and if you're like me, save half and spend half1 point

Sweet. Two comments now: 1. You need a new top deck for your Black and Dekker. I made my own out of a bit of 18mm MDF from my local hardware store, didn't cost much at all. 2. Looks like the balance within the drivetrain is fine so that's good. So the brick wall you're hitting at 70ish mph is either not enough power, too much air resistance, or a combo of both. You're probably right in that it may just be the batteries can't supply enough. A matched set in parallel may well sort that as you say. Of course take everything I say with a pinch of salt, I know nothing about making an RC go fast, but I do have a reasonable engineering mind.1 point

Fakes don't sound much worse than the real ones - carp. All about the branding rather than the quality. Get some high end Sony's or Audio Technica's if you want over the ears.1 point

hi all, just got my first electric model off the bay (as above) it seems to be in excellent condition with a few hop ups rpm rear arms, front bumper and slipper cover. it also came with a fusion lx60 b pro charger. like i say its my first leccy model so theirs a few things i'm unsure off and would like some advice please. firstly the slipper nut can be turned by hand and when the spring is fully compressed the threads dont reach the nylock part of the nut, could this be the wrong spring ? as when jst running it in the street it came loose and clutch started to slip, also their is no washer fitted just the nut . secondly, which lipo? as it seems slow with standard battery (has 28t pinion fitted).. i have seen some turningy 6000mAh 2s/7.4v 25c-30c for1 point
