I thought id have a go at DIY porting on a Nitro engine after looking at many many threads and guides on the subject. Soooo, I had an old Kyosho GX.21 engine kicking about that I don't use anymore, it was a perfectly good engine but I was willing to take the risk of hurting it. I'm quite good with my hands and so forth so I god out the dremel and started to grind and polish on the engines sleeve. basically following the guide below: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5226191/tm.htm I spent about 3 hours to complete the work and it looked fantastic, I fitted the sleeve back into the block and built it back up and stuck it into the Inferno for a test run. I fired up the engine and I was completely amazed at the results, the engine was so crisp, sounded mint and the pick up was insane, its was a totally different engine and went like a cat with mustard on its hoop!!!! faster than my current kyosho GXR28 engine by far, I was soooo happy with my DIY porting Job .............................................Then it went bang, It ate itself, the piston disintegrated, spat bits into the bottom end so the crank bearing destroyed itself and brand new OS glow plug was down the drain. The only part of the engine that is salvageable is literally the carb. What was left of the piston has made a great Key ring tho! So the morel of the story is, if you have a spare engine you can afford to kill then by all means have a little go, its great fun and it might just work. But for the love of god don't have a go on your only engine if you cant afford a new one!!! ...........................................................................Leave it to the experts1 point

For a basher, I'd be more tempted to go for something a HongNor X1X-CR, then if you want to spend the extra cash, get some juicy hop-ups like the shock towers and bits to strengthen up other important areas from King Headz http://www.kingheads...a195e2985cc6569 The Hong Nor comes out of the box pretty tough and fast, with some good hardware on there- the engine is powerful and reliable, great set of shocks and the drivetrain is well proven. The Losi and Hobao are more recent designs and would have the edge around a track, but the Losi's tend to need more maintenance than other cars and IMO aren't that durable/strong, the Hobao I have to admit is abit of an unknown commodity since it's been re-released as the B version though...1 point

Hi 1/5 scale Baja is 565mm, but 1/5 FG's are 510-535mm wheelbase. So your will be in 1:5 scale My upcoming conversion kit will be named as 1/6 because of available 1:6 bodies that will fit better to 505mm wheelbase, as 565mm from baja. Dejan1 point

Should have gone back to the retailer, not your duty as a consumer to deal with manufacturers1 point

Your not just paying for the brand Snoop, your also paying for Castle's excellent warranty service As for the 1515...It's EPIC! A great blend of torque and RPM that'll make most cars it's fitted to fly! If Carlsberg did motors...1 point

I'm into Paintball & F1! Nice dude, nice! Them SP8's are really nifty! I'm running a TM7 LM, TM15 and a TiPX as a side arm at the moment. I mainly do local events though to be honest. North Vs South is practically on my doorstep so thats a def every year. We were due for super6, Staargate, last weekend but everyone seemed to be working so we had to bail :-/1 point

RC (obviously) is my main hobby and has been for the past 4 years. Was into it before but drifted away for a few years. Also into my paintballing. Have a scenario tricked out smart parts SP8 marker with v-locity hopper (keeps up with the tourney boys but looks the part with its scope, bipod and other bits.) and an eclipse 05 ego on a z boarded egg 2 for when I need to be light on my feet. Only go to 2 big weekender events a year now though. Like my PC's and overclocking, this was more of a by product of my love of online gaming. Am looking to get back into this with the likes of bf3 and x-rebirth coming out. I also like building stuff and such unconventional projects. For example, rovers video ground station. I built a 12 foot trebuchet a couple of years ago. Would lob half bricks with ease. Also got an air cannon made from 52mm xopper pipe. It's self reloading and can empty it's clip of 8 rounds I'n 60 seconds. Don't have the time these days for such projects unfortunately.1 point

Both are awesome motors, obviously the Leopard is about half the price or less, you can replace the bearings in each too. Not sure about cogging with the 150A esc, AJ would know though, he used them together. Plug wise the motor comes with 4mm male bullets, ESC I'm not sure, best unsolder the 4mm bullets and put 6mm plugs on all round though http://www.modelsport.co.uk/logic-rc-6mm-gold-bullet-connectors-10prs/rc-car-products/387601 point

Thanks for the links buddy With your motor dilemma, I would be tempted to ditch the 80A ESC right now and buy one of the 150A Xerun's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XERUN-Competition-RC-Car-Brushless-Motor-150A-ESC-SL241-/250745608620?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_Vehicles&hash=item3a619a59ac , then one of the Leopards in the link here- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leopard-LB-4274-2000KV-Brushless-Motor-RC-Car-Truck-/180577225037?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_Vehicles&hash=item2a0b3dc94d1 point

Do you think you weakened the liner by taking off too much material? Thus leading to it fragmenting under pressure?1 point

Hey guys, ive got a mav strada mt too, although not the EVO model but its pretty much the same. Right, so the HSP Brontosaurus is exactly the same truck- thats how i get cheaper spares when i have a crash, maverick charges the earth whereas a cheaper company like HSP are dirt cheap even tho its the same part as maverick. Also the Nitrotek Bugcrusher is the exact same truck again so upgrades are easy to come by its just knowing where to start looking, try typing it into google and u'll see how many upgrades there are out there- its just that maverick dont brand them! Try this site: rcmodscars and check out my MAV STRAD: Strada MT1 point
