Totally unreal truck..

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,i've always liked the Ford yanky pickups and have always been a big Bronco fan,the hardtop model but the Dodge Ram Charger that Chuck Norris had in Lone Wolf McQuade is my all time favourite, thats the truck that got me liking 4x4 Jeep type vehicles.I've always loved the Land Rover and Range Rover owning a few Landies and two Rangies, the last one I had as some of you know was the 4.6 Vogue that was very Sport looking apart from the rims and tyres.

Anyway,to my point,my favourite truck currently is the Ford F650 Supertruck,I want a F650 shell for the Revo and just love the look, now when you read that these pick up trucks are the largest available, you really dont understand just how freakin huge they are.Check the pics here and see what I mean,I had no clue they were so monsterous, they even have their own hydraulic hoist to get the rear bed on and off the truck, looks similar to some Skip Lorries with the single arm hoist set up.

I'm now thinking along the lines of a F650 build with a dually back end,i'd deffo have to use the F350 shell as a donor and use styrene for the fab work to change the front fenders and grill. Two shells will be needed to use the rear cab section and graft it together to make a crew cab, styrene card to clean up the joint and styrene paste for filler.

I'll also need suitable wheels and at some point turn it into a duel rear wheel monster, thinking of going with vertical stacks and give it a similar look to the Ironhide from the Transformers film,he's the black pick up if you haven't guessed. Its all pie in the sky at the minute as i've too many other things to do and have to get either the SCX10 or the Tundra Highlift before I can even think about a mock up,it will come however, either this or the LR3 Discovery....smile.gif

Check out these beasts, they make a Warrior L200 look like a Mk 2 Escort in size comparison and the Range Rover would crap itself too at the side of one of these.Bloody unreal and only in America...laugh.gif

Carl, that would make an awesome project. I know what you mean about these big pickups though they are just awesome. I myself would love the 8.1 Litre Monster that is the GMC Topkick that they use for Ironhide.

Once I get other things out the way like the Bajas revamp, then i'll start planning.I'm going to order a mixed pack of styrene in 1,1.5 and 2mm with tube and rod too,the pack includes scale styrene chequer plate that looks wicked when painted silver.I may need to pick your brains Dave too,its been a long time since I built statics using liquid cement,I used to use Revell Contacta Professional in the blue bottle with the needle applicator, awesome reaction with styrene and it allows you to recreate weld seams and along with a bottle of liquid cement with the brush to make styrene filler, its all you need,oh and a tube of Milliput, allows you to work wonders. The thing is i'm rusty at building but it should soon all come back to me with some practice.Heres another thread of a great crafter of Styrene, check out the other thread I made oo,thats got one of the best modellers i've seen with the stuff....wink.gif

Check this guy out, great ideas and great work....good.gif

A shell size not far of the Revo would be about right to keep it as scale as possible but its finding one in ABS or Styrene.Even if I got a Kamtec shell if they did one,it wouldn't be big enough unless they built it specifically for a bigger chassis than 1.9 size, eve 22 would be a bit too small I think.I'll have to get the micro fisches from somewhere online or detailed exploded pics to work out some measurements. Those things are the size of an Arctic tractor unit, bigger even on a whole, the lorrie thats pulling the two on the trailer has smaller wheels than the one at the back with the stock wheels.Thats some size truck right there, thats for sure, couldn't get over just ho big they are,no wonder its the biggest pick up in the world, wont see many mums doing the school run in one of those, makes a Hummer look like a Matchbox car....laugh.gif
