Hi All

Brand new to RC cars (aside to a Tamiya Grasshopper as a kid, 35 years ago!), so looking for some guidance and advice for buying 'first' RC.

Initial interest in Traxxas brand as build quality seems to be good - Bandit, Big Foot, Rustler and Stampede in the mix until I can distinguish more understanding of each (others also considered ATM!)...

I will be a casual/ fun user (with my 12 year old son) so just reliving an itch from my youth and having fun., no desire or experience in the engineering and build, so low maintenance 'plug and play' models are the ideal solution here please.  I had originally budgeted around £200 but recognise (if new) I will probably be nearer double this! 😞

I am not yet clear on the various charger and battery types, so any advise / recommendations on these appreciated!   Is the difference charge and running time, or somewhat more complex than this?

If any users on here have some well maintained 2nd hand models they are looking to part with then interested in offers...

Thanks in advance!!!

Kev

Welcome, cant supply the wanted ad but heres some questions for your question 😁
What do you want from your RC, jumps, flips, crashes, crawling, bashing, speedruns, onroad off road?
RTR is ready to repair, plug and play the same, buy cheap buy twice, cant go wrong with traxxass durability wise in everday use cases.
Dont forget tools and spares, take your budget and triple it, tires, shock oils,  whats that brushless, another 200 if they dont come with it.
Lipos another rabbit hole, and ££ the best information is read up and reasearch before you buy and better yet try before you buy, go out to a rc meet, join a group and see what others are doing too, if thats your jam.
If it makes you grin your onto a win.

Arrma Boost 2WD?

Theres 3 different styles but

https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/arrma-110-granite-4x2-boost-mega-550-brushed-monster-truck-rtr-blue-1346446

Shade over £200 with the battery and charger package, and can be easily upgraded to 4wd and Brushless if the bug bites

I have a Traxxas slash 2wd 1/10th scalthats recently been overhauled so should be maintenance free, comes rtr too. Also if you do ever need spares, you’ll get them (only Tamiya and Traxxas are the parts back up kings) and resale values do well too.

I have a 1/16th slash rod for sale too, i cant honestly recommend this as it needs smoother ground than the 1/10th version but it fits into a back pack or the boot of a small car so can be taken out regularly wherever you may find to have a bash.

if it were my money i was spending though, id start off with a Traxxas every time…..

cheers. :good:

For anyone new to the hobby it's a no brainer for me - Associated MT10. I'm biased because I currently own one, but having owned some of the toughest bashers out there I can honestly say that in my experience the MT10 is the toughest of the lot.

Having said that, for ease of working on them the Arrma 3s range or pretty much any Traxxas would be hard to beat.
