Kyosho Optima Vintage - What’s next?

Hi there. I have a vintage Kyosho Optima that I had as a teenager back in the 80s. It’s been sat in a cupboard at my parent’s house since then. It’s completely standard except for a faster motor that I put in it, with no signs of rust etc.

I was thinking that i could fix it up and the kids could get to drive what was a decent car, back in the day. But after spending a couple of hours on RC forums, I’m now wondering if this is a good idea. I’ve read that these vintage cars can break easily and that the spares are difficult to get hold of. It seems that some think that these are best kept as nostalgia pieces on a shelf.

So I’m wondering if I should do it up (how much would that even cost?) or just buy a stronger more modern RC car for the kids to enjoy?

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
