FTX Fury 2.0

This is my new rig, and will be my newest scale trail/crawler, this is building on the success i have enjoyed with the FTX Texan, and more than likely will make my old Ford F-150 redundant

I wont be running this box stock but about to make a start on a series of mods to improve its performance, its known they are supplied with a 40amp esc, not ideal so it will have an ISDT70 later today, along with setting up on Flysky GT3 and possibly a 550 motor to replace the 540 stock one.

 

I did order a set of Duratrax showdown tyres but feel i could of done better so may just sell the Duratrax and look for an alternative tyre.

Also planning on a basic interior with driver figure, may use cowboy Jack from the f-150

so far i have removed the spare wheel carrier as its not needed and fitted a scale fire extinguisher now of to fit the flysky radio

All i can say is it will be an evolving project, i may go for alloy axles at a later date, and i feel its begging for a basic interior with driver figure, i am hitting a brick wall with the ISDT70 esc, for some reason it wont connect via the bluetooth app, need to do a bit of youtubing on that front, also seems not enough room for a 550 size motor, the wheels i had put aside dont leave enough thread for the Nyloc wheel nuts and just not happy with the Duratrax tyres, first and last time with that brand.

I have already strapped in a 4200mah home made 26650 Li-ion battery............But first up need to sort this esc or fit a 60amp hobbywing and work out what im doing about tyres, i have had a big spend so not rushing into buying another set of tyres right now, i should of got a set from Injora. Another area needing work is the rear shocks, fronts are just fine but the rear nearside has droop on it that wont go away, incidentally TomleyRC had same issue on his review model.

Might add some rear lights but very happy with the stock front lights

update to the above, managed to get the ISDT70 to talk to the app, though sometimes it does, sometimes not, but making progress.

I might steal the tyres from the Injora rock buggy, but undecided as yet, i also need to get another 3 models onto the flysky GT3 then sell the radio sets that are freed up as this was the plan to cut back on the amount of TX`s and need to decide if i sell the Showdowns

Youl notice a difference having most/all your models on 1 transmitter mate

So small update, now fitted the Duratrax Showdowns, in the end i used the original plastic beadlocks from the Texan as the metal ones i was using did not leave enough thread to securely hold the wheel, i di fit weights to the wheels so each wheel is around 110g, much better than stock

Thanks mate, i have to say i feel this is way better than the low price tag it comes with (£215) the transmission is anti torque twist and very quiet, all metal gears, has a very good steering angle, the shell is pretty scale and solid, the large clear windows are just begging for a driver figure, cant find any thing bad about it other than cheap stock tyres and a poor 40amp esc but that is all changed now

No not yet mate, i always knew it would be modified before even running it, but may get a run over weekend as i have a few extra days

If you do get it run over weekend it will give a baseline to see how it improves as you mod it

More parts ordered for this project, 35T motor, some seats to make a basic interior, new shocks and some scale junk

I removed the pan-hard bar to see if it helps.

 

But the left shock still seems to be weaker at the rear?

 

And it puts all of the weight onto the left rear wheel upon hard acceleration.

A lot of parts have arrived today, some scale parts, a 540 35T motor, a used Hobbywing 1080 esc and a set of Mountain shocks from Injora, they are not the best but not the worst and better than stock £19 a set of 4 and they come with lots of spare parts like harder springs, seals and such, so fitted these shocks after doing full strip, green slime and rebuild

I have done a U-turn on the Injora shocks and managed to get the stock ones tuned to a point im happy with them now, but the big one i have ripped out the slightly annoying ISDT70 esc and fitted a hobbywing 1080, all nicely set up, lovely bit of kit

No mate, this is my first 1080, they are just so nice, i honestly see why people rate them so darn highly, easy to set up and sweet to run, first video of Fury is up and rendering and have to say it shows huge potential
