As a general rule for starting both high speed & low speed should be flush. Idle gap is 1mm ( l think )...should tell you in the manual.  Also have a look on YouTube, there's a great video by JQRacing entitled "know your idle gap". Wouldn't bother with a heater myself.

i preferred the pull start as i never had any problems with it, al ways heat your engine before you try to pull start as when its cold, the piston will be tight, the engine heater helps loosen the piston slightly to make it easy to start.

 

if you have messed about with your needles then its best to reset them all making sure when you screww them that they are both flushed with the outer ring.

 

once you have done all that then it will be running rich, that is for breaking your engine in. when you have broken your engine in then its time to tune it by leaning the high and low needles but make sure your engine is up to temp before tuning.

 

your idle gap should only be between 1mm and 2mm.
