Battery connectors

Hi,  excited newbie here with the first of what will probably be many stupid questions!

My son has got an FTX Bugsta and a few batteries with Tamiya connectors. Now I fancy getting a kit to build so I can take it for a bash with him. I'm considering a Traxxas Stampede, but that obviously doesn't use the same battery connectors. So my question - if I want to share his batteries and charger is it as simple as changing the connector in the Traxxas, or could I use an adapter or something?

Thanks

Tamiya plugs don't last long so going XT60 or deans would be a lot better.  you can use a adapter from tamiya/deans/XT60 to traxxas.  but if you go to 3s lipo or more then adapters are not recommended

I agree that the Tamiya connectors are no good for 3S or hungry motors. However, I will argue that adapters can work for decent power having ran adapters successfully for some time in both 3S and 6S trucks. This was only before I could solder better or when lazy!

All that said, if you can solder then get it done 👍

Thanks both - I think I'll end up swapping my son's connectors over to something better and getting a new charger then. We'll only be running nimhs for a while anyway, but it sounds like that'll be best in the long run. I've not soldered anything for 20 years but I'm hoping it'll come back to me quickly!

It's like a bike you won't forget what battery connector are you going with also I'm guessing your using 3.5mm bullets
