Good morning. Been reading a while and now joined.

Not new to RC, having had an RC model shop in the past, but I've been out of the game for 15 years or so.

Now fancying building a crawler kit, and look to be entering the market at a time when retailers stocks are pretty low.

I'd like an Axial, but reckon I'll start with a Hobao DC1 KIT.

Guessing I've forgotton more than I know now 🙂

Been digging out some old electrics that I had stashed, and looking forward to a kit build.

Hi and welcome to the forum

My son (Yrkoon) and I both have the DC1 kits and really love them :good:

Cheers

I've been reading up on some of your exploits with the DC1.

Its a good price at the minute, so I reckon a good choice for my first crawler kit.

Really enjoying the build.

On with the shocks now.

Missing a few screws though. Seem to be short on m3x20 but easy to get hold of.

Shocks seem very stiff, even without the springs and no oil so planning on sorting the damping

yeh theres a part of the shocks when building on the piston that i hand filed down a but as they were stupidly tight and dad done the same to his cant remember exactly what plastic part it was, they become much looser after doing that 🙂

the only part lacking on the dc 1 is the stock shocks but got them working ok now and the rest of the kit just oozes quality, glad your enjoying the build its a good one 🙂

Yes its the piston in the shocks.

Most I've seen on builds, just have one cutout to let the oil pass through.

Mine had 2 flats directly opposite each other, so they may have redesigned the part.

Its still not really enough though and there's not a massive lot you can do do improve oil flow as the circips above and below the damper cover most of the damper

Welcome to the forum.  Dark Side Crawlers on FB are fairly active in the Devon area, maybe look them up once you've finished your build if you fancy some company when putting your rig through its paces.
