James.S
Ah right, fair enough mate. Well if it's either one, 15 or 18kg, hopefully it's still up to the task, but if they aren't waterproof then I'll probably be replacing mine as well. Or just try to never take it out in even slightly wet conditions... if that were possible in this country lol.
Popular Post James.S
The parts have finally arrived from Banggood after a 6 week wait. Time to get her fixed up, and hopefully the weather improves so I can get out for a little drive today 🤞 I've missed this truggy, it's a hell of a lot of fun
Bert_w164
That's a sweet looking shell. What's the thickness like - is it thicker than the WL toys stuff? Looking forward to footage of this, still have a soft spot for them!

Probably twice as thick as the WL bodyshells and thicker than my Maverick shells too. The only model I own that has a better quality body is my Losi LST2 from 15 years ago, haha. Hopefully ill have some footage to share in the next few days mate 🙂
Popular Post James.S
So I started fitting the new parts. Got the new centre driveshafts in there no probs. Then came to disassembling the front end and came across a few issues... Managed to get it out after quite a struggle and a few swear words & then immediately realised I ordered the wrong pins 😩 And not only that but where the swing arm snapped off the mount it also snapped the pin so the threaded bit is now stuck inside the mount 😣 Oh and just to top things off the orange aluminium front bumper piece is quite bent out of shape so gonna need a new one of them as well. So could be another few weeks now before its up & running again while I'm waiting on the other parts I need. Wish I had looked over it more thoroughly before chucking it in the garage and thinking I knew exactly what I needed but hey ho, you live & learn. But I guess some good news is the new shell looks nice 😁 4

Bert_w164
That would do real nicely with a couple of little spot lights up front to create a bit of seperation, but that's a subjective opionion 😄 Is that a M3 bolt, and if so is corrosion hiding the thread? I'm wondering if you could find another M3 bolt locally that'll fit - if you measure it I'll see what I have in my spares.
James.S
The other bits I ordered have been dispatched. Estimated delivery date 2nd June.. could be worse I guess, lol. Unfortunately couldn't find the front bumper parts in orange so had to get them in this silver/grey colour. Also decided to get myself a 25kg servo to replace the current one when it goes. It's only 9kg anyway so not really enough torque for a 1/8 truggy and I don't think it's going to last much longer tbh. This one should be much better though 👍
Bert_w164
I have one of those red servos, does just fine on the Hyper 7 😁

Popular Post James.S
Woo! Those parts have arrived already 😁 And the new 25kg servo Now just need to drill & re tap the mount that has the pin snapped off inside of it, put it all back together with the new servo (which should make a big difference hopefully) and she's good to go again 👍

James.S
So as I said above I've finished rebuilding it with the new bits and it seems to be working well. Haven't been able to take it out for a test drive yet because of the poor weather but hopefully will sometime this week. Anyways, few pics below of the process & a short vid. The state of these 😂 Out with the old, in with the new. (New arm aswell) New centre drive shafts as well 20210524_161634_1_1.mp4 Edited May 24, 2021 by James.S

Really looking forward to seeing this run 🤪 Thanks man, me too 😀 & yeah Banggood delivered the bits quickly this time round and it was also easier to rebuild then I first thought. I thought I was going to have to drill out & re thread that rear mount on the front section, but luckily I had a new one because i'd ordered the front facing mount and they come in pairs. I'm looking forward to taking it out for a proper run again as well, just need to make sue it's all set up correctly as there's a few things bugging me still at the moment.

I'm looking at the ZD BX-8E + 4274 motor + 150A esc, I guess even if I don't break the magical 100mph barrier with that setup, it'll still be a right hoot 😁 Funny you mention that, that's exactly what I did before Christmas and I have had issues. First off, I shoud say it drives like a dream., when it's working. However I've had a problem with the motor mount moving out of position, ultimately resulting in what you see in these photos.... (finally ended up fully knacked today) So, that's £20 and a wait for a new chassis plate. And I am thinking a couple of steel or carbon fibre plates bolted top and bottom to screw the motor mount into. Other than that I'm dead pleased...
