Fitted the new Dumbo Rc TX and RX along with a cheapo 20amp Brushed ESC into the MN99, all fits neatly, just need to fit the rest of the lighting, but will have to wait till next weekend now, works really well, it’s a great Tx.5CEAC664-A90C-4559-99EA-321169A1633E.thumb.jpeg.a819b0a76cf54a1bab8f22263e2c8911.jpeg6F2C338B-FF2F-4DC4-9131-19A863C0C51A.thumb.jpeg.798a73e7802916d702de028a2426b76f.jpegA5FD621D-054E-4835-BA9B-B6BA0D9B4530.thumb.jpeg.7fb8657b5a83e4373d7177369d4c6c80.jpeg4ACD6DAA-4630-4904-81A1-D49728EF0C14.thumb.jpeg.a39294bc35dfef08b42f0ab0870cf798.jpegC5370F8C-D75C-4721-9D0D-B1DB4FC46CB8.thumb.jpeg.3f5bcd51ffc5e074dbfe1e07258d9db2.jpeg

Ag100, that looks like the same ESC I fitted to mine yesterday. It works really well, I'm using a Kyosho KT200 TX/RX,

How have you fitted the lights to work again?

@Silly_Billy , the Rx came with some LED lights, and is already set up, so it was just a case of plugging in the new ones to the rx and they fitted into the shell perfectly.

the ones that come with it, you could try fitting a new connector that fits into you rx and see if it would work of channel 3 or 4 (depending on the amount of channels )

Ah, forgot yours is the 99s, might be worth asking in the general forum, there may be a way to do it.

those axles look like the first ones I ordered, they were too narrow, but the description of yours does say MN99, so hopefully will be ok.

It’s  going to be quite a beast once you have all those parts fitted👍

Are your LED's front and rear or just front?  Are the lights the only difference between the 99 and the 99S? I know that the 99S has metal diff gears, definitely not the central gears though.

Mine just had LEDs at the front, and yes to my knowledge it’s just the lights that are different, metal diff gears on mine as standard.

Started fitting the extra lights to the MN99 , it will have indicators that come on with steering input, headlights, rear lights, additional front lights that come on with throttle input and some interior blue lights in the dash.

also fitted a new longer metal servo arm to help improve the steering.

Thats is EXACTLY what I've been up to today!!

New suspension, lighting...

Motor, bumper, differential arriving on Monday. I can see this becoming a very expensive hobby, and hours of good fun.

Everyone who has decried the MN90/99/S, these are actually great little cars for a beginner like myself...lots to learn from, and space to improve.

Did those shocks fit straight on or did you need to make any adjustments?

They fitted straight on. I put the stock original springs on the front and then the springs that came with the shocks on the rear. Using 300ct oil all round. Definitely a lot less bounce.

Good to know, might get some then. Cheers .

Lights all installed, it’s a tight squeeze and needs a bit of a tidy up, but overall it works well and am pleased  with the result.

it now has headlights and driving lights, indicators and harzards, rear lights and some interior lights.

Looking good, I put my receiver behind the dash, had to cut away some of the battery tray, but nothing structural.

And now for a silly question - why have I lost speed? Running the 280 motor, I had more speed than with the new 370.

Any thoughts?

It’s got to be the gear ratio. On-site the box then, probably a lot more torque, but less speed?

Got some new shocks for the MN99c these are the WLtoys A959 recommended by @Silly_Billy, they are a little taller so raise the height a bit, but thats no bad thing on a crawler I guess.
I used some softer springs I had, used 35wt oil, which seems ok.one issue is that two of the shocks are leaking like a Soviet era Nuclear Power Station, so will see what Bangood will do about it.

  • 4 weeks later...

I decided to remove the oil shocks from this, they were longer than stock so lifted it a bit too much, plus they leak, I had two replacements sent out, and one of these leaked too, so that’s 3 out of 6!

I modified the stock ones using the springs from a biro, cut in half and inserted into the piston, seems a little less bouncy.

Hi all. I was wo during if there was any mn99s experts on her that could explain the light wiring. I've got a new 6ch receiver and transmitter coming and 2 speed gearbox, but with the new parts and the esc how would I still be able to keep the standard lights working? So far it's looking like this 😎. Feeling a new colour soon now the back windows are half panelled over20220724_204707.thumb.jpg.ae565c43fa7d4d217270c6374bd71cde.jpg20220822_210317.thumb.jpg.ce499c541b3e6b8d479b3d1a12435a3f.jpg

From memory the lights are just a simple two wire connection with both front and rear into one connector, I can’t remember the name of the connector but it’s a little white one, when you remove the old esc/receiver combo you should be able to identify the lights (there are 3 connectors in total, lights, motor and servo). Easiest way would just be to cut of the old connector and fit a new one that is the same as your servo and new esc, it’s an easy enough job but worth getting the proper pliers and connectors https://www.4-max.co.uk/crimping-pliers.htm like these.
