Upgrading Huina forklift

Noah T

Recommended Posts

I am relatively new to hobby rc and have ordered the Huina 1/10 8-channel forklift truck from modelsport just for a bit of fun, and because it's decent value. However it is criticised for having no proportional speed or steering. It there any way I can fix this, with a new 8-channel controller or something of the like. Also, are there any other ways to improve the handling or performance that I should know about.

Being a FLT operative i can tell you first hand FLTs are really well known for handling like a ferrari... Try RCsparks on youtube, they do a series called loading wars but have done a few vids on upgrading forklifts...

I have to admit, i didn't think handling and performance on forklift trucks went together . But on a serious side a new 6 plus channel transmitter setup together with a decent steering servo and new esc will sort the vehicle side of things,(modifications most likely) not sure about the forks though as I don't know what moves them up or down.

I am slightly biased but a good spektrum dx8 can be picked up  cheaply nowadays but I have no idea whether it would work as they are air based not ground based. TBH I can't see any problems though.  Orange do a TX10i  which 10 channel and is spektrum compatible  for £80  and Turnigy  do one similar but 9 channel around the £50 mark.

so long as the receiver is an air receiver it should work with dx8

i use the dx8 in my model boats no problems using it

Flysky FSi6x is 10 channel but only comes with 6 channel RX but about £52 would get you the TX and an 8 or 10 channel RX, this is a stick radio BTW

@RadioFish you would like the forklift trucks we have at my place of work Combilift they go forward/back and side to side and carry up to 5t

I will look out for a tx8. Hope it will work as its designed for drones.

There are definitely options to explore. Upgrading to a new 8-channel controller might just be the solution to add proportional speed and steering to your forklift. It's worth looking into compatible controllers that can give you better control.

To get some expert advice and check out potential upgrades, you should head over to machinerydealer.co.uk. They might have the perfect RC equipment.
