Recommended Posts

After seeing @Fly In My Soup video of the PistenBully - several times, and finally finishing the Kassbohrer (purchashed from Mr FIMS!) I found a parcel on my desk containing the Dickies Toys PistenBully!

Sorry for the shameless replica project!!!

Here before I started work...

Rear bed and beacons gone

Found these LED rotating beacons very similar sized and can alter the flash/rotating pattern via ch.3

Beacons wired up and fitted

I have 2 mini ESCs, RX and V-tail mixer so I can use my DX3

Thanks for looking and more to come

Have you still got the kassbohrer?

That thing was awesome. Better gearbox than these..... You going dual esc? Or mix off one??

Edit. Just re read..... Lol....

Yes, 99% finished. I've fitted LEDs, flashing beacons, 3rd ESC for the winch and 3d printed a roof rack.

Going to use the same ESC setup on this build

ESCs and v-tail mixer arrived and set about installing......

ESC output soldered direct to motors, everything tucked up best I can

Willy painted, kept it simple, but may give him a makeover later and fitted cab

Did you epoxy lock your driveshafts... You'll hear them snag under load or on rough terrain if not.....

They click.... As the shaft rotates inside the bexek it's mated too... When hung up

No I didn't but thanks for the advice

Just something I immediately noticed upon running it.... Had to dissemble and epoxy output shafts together inside gearbox

Change of direction on the lighting front.....

Shopping with our gert on Sunday, saw this at the checkout....99p

So I bought a couple and disassembled when I got home...... interesting.....

Ripped out the LED strips, printed some smaller cases and got to work...

Personally, I think the 2 smaller light bars suit it better than one large 1. Hopefully it won't pop when I wire up

Love it... I use stuff like this a lot.

Top work dude...

I wired in series and just added a switch.... If you find 5v rated ones (3 batts) you can run them off rx.... Or just wire to a 1s tiny lipo

  • 1 year later...

After doing practically NO rc for months, I had a couple of hours in the man cave and did a bit to the Pistenbully.....

Removed plastic rear bed and replaced with DIY wooden one - trimmed wooden forks!! varnished with clear lacquer

3d Printed a spool and made a servo winch, printed a revised box for the lightbar electrics
