Hpi Blitz Flux on 3S

Recommended Posts

Been looking at the slash 4x4 and had loads of great help of guys on here about it, but the main thing i am being told is it does not run on 3s happy like traxxas claim, and needs mod drive shafts at another £60 and then of course messing about fitting them which means its far from ready to race. My main hobby is my inspire and racing mini quads which takes all my time up messing about with. So my next car is just a bit of fun for my son and my self to enjoy out in the field. So the big question is will the blitz run happy on 3s all day long with out any mods, i have a trophy flux buggy that runs on 4s all day long like hpi say and has done for years. So i am hoping and guessing the blitz will run on 3s all day long all so and would love any ones opinions as to if they do or not. cheers in advance Guys.

Oh thats good to hear, just looking for something  i dont need to mod really. I would sooner go for the blitz if its more up to the job but its good to hear you had a slash that run ok on 3s. cheers

The reason people say the Slash 'won't' run on 3s is because the Velineon system has a reputation for overheating, which it does, on 3s, quite a lot.

Personally I think a 2wd on 2s is more fun than a 4wd on 2s or 3s.

It's all down to your own personal preference and what you yourself like.

Also, cell count isn't the be all and end all.

You've got higher kv motors and taller gearing you could also mess with.

As Guns said, 3s on a 2wd platform is too much, unless for some reason you go for a really low kv set up for torque, which a 2wd simply doesn't require.

Also, depending on how old your lad is, 3s may also be no fun for him, if he's fairly new to using them and a bit on the young side, the truck will never be on its wheels :good:

I ran a Team Associated SC10, on 2s, with a HobbyWing SC8 + 4700kv combo, I had it at 50mph+ (clocked something like 45mph but that wasn't flat out)

Yea he is pretty good at driving, he is only 5 but has been messing about since he was 2 with me holding the transmitter for him. He drives my cars now which are sadly all set up more low race spec which he has got bored of over the years and now wants something to air with power and thrash about. He has been flying one of my old phantoms for last year, and is SLOWLY starting to fly one of my old FPV mini racers which let me tell you is proving tricky to sat the least, so he is pretty good at dealing with things with power RC. My main problem with this car choice is its just going to be something for fun for him to drive (and me of course) fast over jumps ect so i want something that is going to do what it says on the box so to speak as every moments spare time i have is taken up running my FPV flight club and building quads.

On you set on a short course truck? I've owned a Blitz, Trophy and a Firestorm and of the three the Firestorm is by far the best for jumping. It's more controllable in air, it'll flip all day long on 3s and bounce right back when it all goes wrong.

No not set on anything really. Just something that runs 3s all day long happy that can take a bash, and by the sound of things its HPI that are up to the job more than traxxas to be honest. It was the same years ago to be fair when i was in to rc cars then.

That's the Fire

7 hours ago, Oh How Original said:

Is that flat out in that video chap? On a 3s?

Have to say, if it's lacking on 2s with a 4700kv motor, then you needed a bigger pinion ;) mine was nuts lol and it was slightly heavier being an SC as well.

The the Firestorm and no, it wasn't even close to flat out. It's impossible to put the power down on that dusty surface.

Don't get me wrong, the Blitz was quick on the 4700kv set up but it was fairly unresponsive in the air. 3s made not feel more like the Firestorm.

  • 1 month later...

I've got a Blitz which I now race with a 3300kv in it on 2s but before that it was bashed a bit. It was mental on 3s with a 3300kv almost uncontrollable unless very grippy surface, and then on grippy Tarmac it shredded the rear tyres... Fun for about 30 secs then just got expensive.  Then ran it on a HW 4700kv on 2s, 19t pinion, still plenty fast but more manageable on loose surfaces.

just to add driveline etc is pretty robust but if running 3s on anything much above a 3000kv you better like glueing tyres....
