  1. No not set on anything really. Just something that runs 3s all day long happy that can take a bash, and by the sound of things its HPI that are up to the job more than traxxas to be honest. It was the same years ago to be fair when i was in to rc cars then.
  2. Yea he is pretty good at driving, he is only 5 but has been messing about since he was 2 with me holding the transmitter for him. He drives my cars now which are sadly all set up more low race spec which he has got bored of over the years and now wants something to air with power and thrash about. He has been flying one of my old phantoms for last year, and is SLOWLY starting to fly one of my old FPV mini racers which let me tell you is proving tricky to sat the least, so he is pretty good at dealing with things with power RC. My main problem with this car choice is its just going to be something for fun for him to drive (and me of course) fast over jumps ect so i want something that is going to do what it says on the box so to speak as every moments spare time i have is taken up running my FPV flight club and building quads.
  3. Oh thats good to hear, just looking for something i dont need to mod really. I would sooner go for the blitz if its more up to the job but its good to hear you had a slash that run ok on 3s. cheers
  4. Been looking at the slash 4x4 and had loads of great help of guys on here about it, but the main thing i am being told is it does not run on 3s happy like traxxas claim, and needs mod drive shafts at another £60 and then of course messing about fitting them which means its far from ready to race. My main hobby is my inspire and racing mini quads which takes all my time up messing about with. So my next car is just a bit of fun for my son and my self to enjoy out in the field. So the big question is will the blitz run happy on 3s all day long with out any mods, i have a trophy flux buggy that runs on 4s all day long like hpi say and has done for years. So i am hoping and guessing the blitz will run on 3s all day long all so and would love any ones opinions as to if they do or not. cheers in advance Guys.
  5. Do the old style traxxas connector's that i guess the floureon batterys on ebay will come with fit the new traxxas connector that comes on the new slash. I have seen a vid that says they are new i think. Looking at the 2s 5500mah and the 3s 5500mah which are both 155x 25x 45 in size which are the same size as the traxxas lipos.
  6. Just watched a video now of someone saying they all so need a fan on esc and a fan on the motor, is this something that was needed with there old style motors and esc and the new ones dont.
  7. Thats good news because i couldn't find any mip ones anywhere. shame it doesn't come stock to run 3s lipo like it says, having to spend another £60 to finish of building the car because traxxas are not capable of finishing of building a car them selves is anoying, makes it expensive at £500 compared to the Associated Pro sc at £319. Its all ways the same with cars, nothing comes good and runs like they claim stock, i remember why i turned over to quads 3 years back now. LOL
  8. Fantastic folks, thanks for all your help. I will order a few lipos and find the mip's and of course the traxxas and just hope the newer combo is better than the last. Cheers again
  9. Searched on hobbyking with part number but nothing comes up, cant find any lipos on there that fit the slash and i am not buying a car that needs £60 lipos putting in it as i only buy lipos from hobbyking and but plenty. There must be a company out there that does lipos for these things other than traxxas surley, i thought these slash trucks were popular.
  10. Or anyone know a forum or facebook page with plenty of traxxas slash owners on to post this topic on. cheers again
  11. Anyone know were to buy the truggy wheels with tyres from for the truggy. cheers
  12. Looking at getting a slash 4x4 and wanting to know a few things of anyone who has experience with them. 1st is do they run on 3s lipo stock gearing all day long happy with out shredding the gearbox or anything else. 2nd is what 3s lipos from hobby king fit in them, i can change plugs over no problem so thats not a worry and would sooner get some high c rating 3 lipos if anyone knows of any that fit nice. cheers all any help would be great, Lee
  13. Just read the end of your post, yea it is only a mid week pro mo ant the moment and please dont be put of with my post. She is a good bird for quick out the boot of the car flying with good fpv for the money and i think they sorted the gps shielding with the v3 to be honest. The camera could be a problem tho if people are not use to flying phantoms maybe, video and picture quality is good even compared to the gopro. Its just the weakness of it that is an issue thats all. All said im wondering if there is another vision in sight. The uk are only dropping the price mid week and not all supplies but the us have dropped it full time so to speak and thats what makes me think there is another bird about to fly our way. Hope so anyway.
  14. No take it from a owner, its to do with the insides that mess with the gps lock, It was a fix i did however not really simple. I had to take the phantom apart and move the gps wire under the pad and then put more home made shielding which took time to cut and fit before finally it got gps lock all the time. Not something i thought would be needed to do after spending all the money i did, and not something that was need with my other phantom. There we go rant over. Not just me tho hundreds of others on forums and youtube that have had to do the same.
  15. I notice DJI have dropped the price to
  16. Anyone know if the naza v2 needs programming on the fc 40 before flying in gps mode, and do you all so need to set the compass after that or will the compass be set once i have progammed the naza v2. Not sure what the programming involves and why you do it really. cheers guys im lost on this and nothing anywhere explains what you need to program once you get it.
  17. Cool cheers guys, i will give buzzflyer and Totem hobbies a ring tomorrow to see if they program them before sending out, They are both 366 and essex models are 385 so not a massive difference. I think that simply electronics that sell them for 309 on google are outside the uk and all though some cars i have bought in the past i have bought from the us to save a bit, i would sooner buy something like this that i know nothing about really from the uk to be honest. If i buy one and program it my self on the website, do i all so have to program the compass after this on the field so to speak. Im very new to this as you can tell by now. lol
  18. yes i liked the gps mode and the coming home mode were he just pulled the right stick back and it came back to him. Im ready for buying one just a bit confused with the price differences. I have seen them on essex models for 385 and they say in the advert that they come pre programmed by them selves before sending to you, but i have found somewhere selling them on ebay for 355 and another company on google for 309 i have asked them if they are programmed and they have said no but you just download it from the website. So im wondering if this is a complicated thing to do and is it just worth spending a little extra to buy one programmed or not. I have all so read that the compass needs to be set and dont know if this is something that will be done all ready with the programmed one from essex models. Its all new to me this so any help would be much appreciated. cheers
  19. Just been at my caravan this wknd and a guy next door was flying the phatom fc40, it looked fantastic and easy to fly ( being as he said it was his 2nd day flying it) he spent a bit of time with me explaining the different modes and showing me how it worked ect ect. He did mention that he had a cheap one before and lost it, so i know he had some experience in flying them before he got his phantom, were as i have never flown a quadcopter before. Does anybody on here have one of these and do they think one of these will be good for a first time flyer. I have done a little bit of reading on these and know they only have a 10 min battery life but that does not bother me. Any help would be great before i purchase one, as they are a bit of money and up until sat night i had never even seen one flying let alone wanted to spend
  20. Just about to change my receiver on my car and dont know which way to plug the servo and esc into the receiver, the middle is the positive which is red, but which is the negative side, is it brown or yellow. cheers
  21. cool got my head round it now cheers, just need to order the plug leads and im away. cheers
  22. Yea there are no symbols or letters on them, the are red white and black.
  23. Is this easy or hard, the plugs are sealed and can't be opened so its going to be a case of cutting them of a stripping back the Wires to solder the new connections on. All so what wires will go into which pins on the new connectors.
  24. I have just got my old ( 30 year) RC boat out of storage to get it working again for my son. My plan was to just swap out the old 27mgh futaba receiver and put in a new orange gr300 like I have got for my car so I can use my spektrum transmitter on the boat all so. Only problem is the leads on the servo and esc are 3 metal pin connectors which don't fit. I guess they are the old fashion style plugs. Anybody know of any conversion connectors I can pop on them. I havnt got the old transmitter or any crystals so any conversion plugs that anybody knows of would be great. Cheers
