Lels Ascender

I imagine if you get the biggest capacity packs that fit as well, you'd have some really nice run times!

I've been thinking about getting some slightly bigger packs for my SCX10, with the faster motor the run times are sub 2 hours, where as the G2 and TF2 are well over 3 hours for the same packs.

Definitely worth going for as much as possible.

Parallel packs for the win :)

Fit really nicely in there and like you say, much cheaper than a shorty.

After trying all sorts of options, I've found a pair of 2200s the best option for me. Didn't like the weight and balance issues with bigger packs and with 4400mah you get a decently long run before you need to swap them out

I ran a 35t motor with a Alturn servo, and sidewinder 3 ESC in my ascender, with a 16t pinion too.

I ran the nano tech 4200mah shorty packs and got around 1 hour 30 run times but that is running it constantly and hard

Missed this thread. Looking great so far, one of my mates recently bought an Ascender and seems happy with it so far. He did comment on the plastics being "Tamiya like" compared to the SCX10.

Which winch did you end up going for?

Quite a few people say the plastics are as good if not better than the SCX10, but I don't know as I've never had a SCX10, but found the Vaterra plastics to be of good quality and had no issues.

To me, the plastics feel harder than Axial but i'm not sure if thats a good thing or not, I think Axials flexy-ish plastic is nice as it tends to absorb impacts and flex rather than snapping. The Vaterra plastics don't feel like they will break anytime soon either though.

I went for the 3Racing winch :)

i was going to take it into the garden and take some decent photos but it seems someone has hidden the back door keys and i don't fancy breaking into my own garden, so i went into the garage. Turns out it crawls quite well on a mk1 escort and it can get to some big angles before it'll tip over!
