Where do you keep and charge your LiPo's?

Charge on the kitchen worktop, along with 3 or 4 18650 batteries for my ecig.

Store them under the bed. I work away mostly, so it'll only be the Mrs that goes up in flames. A risk worth taking, for the convenience.

when lithium contacts water !!!

lithium is a highly reactive metal , when in contact with H20, a chemical chain reaction takes place and it starts to produce excessive

heat and hydrogen gasses. the hydrogen ignites and you get this ...........

as always be very careful and read up about what your messing with.

lithium place into water is not good.

you must discharge most of the power, then bathe in a salt solution.

lithium is an alkali metal and one that is highly reactive.

  • 1 month later...

Stored on the windowsill, charged on a wooden table. I look after them as best I can and so far nothing bad's happened... :omgblinky:

Probably not to be recommended though...

I was thinking about this today :)

Obviously charging them is a different matter but I wondered if they could be stored in something like a metal biscuit tin or bread bin?

The thinking was if they are stored in an air tight conatiner then wouldn't that lessen the fire hazzard?

I thought they were most volatile when combined with air so if there was only a small amount pf air in what they were stored in wouldn't that be used up quickly and lessen the fire risk?

Seems odd to me to store them in something with holes in that allows air in?

Since reading about how carefully people store lipos I got a little worried and bought an ammo box off of eBay. Drilled vents in it and keep it in an old boiler cupboard that's fire boarded and still has the old flue in.
